Grito de Horror

  • Boy watching TV: Wow!
  • Mother's voice (offscreen): What are you kids watching?
  • Girl watching TV: The newslady's turned into a werewolf!
  • Eddie Quist: I'm gonna give you a piece of my mind. I trusted you, Karen.
  • [He proceeds to pull a piece of brain out of a bullet hole in his head]
  • Bookstore owner: [about his occult bookstore] We get 'em all: sun-worshippers, moon-worshippers, Satanists. The Manson family used to hang around and shoplift. Bunch of deadbeats!
  • Karen White: A secret society exists, and is living among all of us. They are neither people nor animals, but something in-between.
  • [last lines]
  • Man at End of Bar: Hey Ernie? Put that pepper steak on for me, will ya? And a hamburger for the lady.
  • Bar Patron: How do ya want that?
  • Man at End of Bar: How you want it, honey?
  • Marsha Quist: [smiles] Rare.
  • Karen White: There was howling just a minute ago.
  • R. William 'Bill' Neill: It was probably somebody's stray dog.
  • Karen White: It didn't sound like any dog I've ever heard before.
  • R. William 'Bill' Neill: Honey, you're from Los Angeles. The wildest thing you've ever heard is Wolfman Jack. This is the country.
  • Chris: [points his rifle] I've got silver bullets in here.
  • Jerry Warren: Silver bullets my ass! Get up, T.C.!
  • Erle Kenton: We should have stuck with the old ways. Raising cattle for our feed. Where's the life in that?
  • Charlie Barton: Humans *are* our cattle.
  • Erle Kenton: Humans are our *prey*. We should feed on them, like we've always done. Screw all this "channel your energies" crap.
  • Chris: You believe in this?
  • Bookstore owner: What am I, an idiot? I'm makin' a buck here. You want books, I got books. I got chicken blood, I got dog embryos, I got black candles, I got wolf-bane. Look at this: Silver bullets. Some joker ordered them. Thirty-ought-six. Never picked 'em up. I take Bank AmeriCard, American Express, Visa. You gonna buy that or what?
  • Karen White: [about Marsha] She walked past you like a bitch in heat!
  • Morgue Attendant: [knocking on mortuary-vault door] Visitors, Eddie!
  • Bookstore owner: [on how to kill werewolves] Silver bullets or fire, that's the only way to get rid of the damn things. They're worse than cock-a-roaches.
  • Erle Kenton: You can't tame what's meant to be wild, doc. It just ain't natural.
  • Donna: Haven't you ever done Assertiveness Training? Before I looked into the Doc, I did it all - est, T.M., Scientology, iridology, Primal Scream... I don't know, I figure another five years of real hard work, and maybe I'll be a real human being.
  • Chris: Eddie?
  • Eddie Quist: You know me, but I don't know you. Why is that?
  • R. William 'Bill' Neill: I'm looking for my wife.
  • Marsha Quist: Why?
  • [looking in what was Eddie Quist's morgue locker]
  • Chris: He's not here!
  • Morgue Attendant: He was here this morning!
  • Terry Fisher: [noticing the damage on the inside of the locker door] Look at the door!
  • Chris: You think somebody took him?
  • Morgue Attendant: Well, he didn't just get up and walk away!
  • Fred Francis: [on the phone after Karen freezes during a newscast] Who knows? Maybe she's pregnant. Listen, get in touch with that Fujiama, Fujimoto, or whatever the hell her name is and get her ready for the 11:00 report.
  • [first lines]
  • Dr. George Waggner: Repression. Repression is the father of neurosis, of self-hatred. Now, stress results when we fight against our impulses. We've all heard people talk about animal magnetism, the natural man, the noble savage, as if we'd lost something valuable in our long evolution into civilized human beings. Now there's a good reason for this.
  • Dr. George Waggner: We should never try to deny the beast - the animal within us.
  • Eddie Quist: Don't you know anything?
  • Dr. George Waggner: [upon being shot] Thank God!
  • [Drops to the ground]
  • Karen White: Where's Bill?
  • Marsha Quist: He's one of us now.
  • Marsha Quist: [addressing Dr. Waggner] "We can fit in," you said. "We can live with them." You make me sick.
  • Karen White: We have to warn people, Chris. We have to make them believe.
  • Eddie Quist: [takes Chris's rifle; half his face is horribly disfigured from the acid that Karen threw on him] Hello, brave boy.
  • Chris: Eddie?
  • Eddie Quist: You know me, and I don't know you. Now why is that?
  • Chris: Where is she?
  • Eddie Quist: Why? Is she your girlfriend?
  • Chris: Where's Terry.
  • Eddie Quist: Huh. Just down the ritual center, down the path. That's where Waggner sends us to, uh, unwind. Huh. He's so repressed.
  • Chris: What did you do to her?
  • Eddie Quist: [listening to Terry's screams on tape recorder] She's got a sexy voice. I like a woman with a sexy voice.
  • [Listening to the part where he kills Terry on the tape recorder]
  • Eddie Quist: Ha Ha. Oh, yeah, listen to this part here.
  • Chris: You are crazy.
  • Eddie Quist: Oh, I'm much more than that, Bright Boy. I'm much more.
  • [Hands Chris backs his rifle]
  • Eddie Quist: Here. Take it. Call it a gift.
  • [Smacks his chest]
  • Eddie Quist: Come on. Come on, Bright Boy. Ha Ha. Don't you know anything.
  • [He starts to transform again but Chris shoots him in the throat with the rifle loaded with silver bullets killing him]
  • Karen White: Where's Bill?
  • Marsha Quist: He's one of us now.
  • Dr. George Waggner: Given time, he would have brought you over to us. Our secret will be safe.
  • Donna: It's wonderful, Karen. When I was first bitten, I fought against it. And so did Jerry. And then we found the Doctor. He helped us. He helped us to adjust. You see, Karen, he understands all about the gift. He knows how to use it, how to control it.
  • Dr. George Waggner: You'd have Bill back. There's still time if you accept the gift.
  • Jerry Warren: It was a mistake to bring her to the Colony.
  • Erle Kenton: We should have stuck with the old ways. Raising cattle for our feed. Where's the life in that?
  • Charlie Barton: The humans are our cattle.
  • Erle Kenton: Humans are our prey. We should feed on them like we've always done. Screw all this "channel your energies" crap.
  • Dr. George Waggner: But the danger of exposure. We need this shelter to plan, to catch up with society. Times have changed, and we haven't. Not enough.
  • Marsha Quist: Shut up, Doc! You wouldn't listen to me, none of you. "We can fit in," you said. "We can live with them." You make me sick.
  • Dr. George Waggner: Marsha...
  • Marsha Quist: Oh, you're through, Doc. She's ours now.
  • T.C. Quist: [shows Karen his severed hand that Terry cutted off] See what your friend did to me that night?
  • Dr. George Waggner: What's the matter with you all? Have you forgotten everything you've learned? She can't disappear. She's well known.
  • Charlie Barton: [agreeing] He's right, Marsha. We've got to make this look like an accident.
  • Dr. George Waggner: I won't let you do this.
  • [Marsha claws him in the face and Charlie hits him in the chest with his rifle causing him to kneel to the ground in pain]
  • Erle Kenton: You can't tame what's meant to be wild, Doc. It ain't natural.
  • Chris: You're crazy!
  • Eddie Quist: Oh, I'm much more than that!
  • Charlie Barton: Sorry to scare you, ma'am, thought you was a cowjacker.
  • Eddie Quist: [to Chris] Hello, bright boy.
