William Sachs agreed to expeditiously write and direct the film based on a list of requirements from Crown International Pictures, including the Van Nuys cruising topic - which the studio wanted to cash in on before the craze ended - and a certain (and apparently generous!) amount of nudity. He wrote the script in only 7 days and the film was produced on an accelerated schedule. The gambit reportedly paid off, with the film being released before the cruising was halted by local law enforcement.

Cyndi Wood, who plays Moon, was the 1974 Playboy Playmate of the Year.
The song, most likely written for the movie, with the chorus "I Need A Woman," which is a slick modern 70's R&B, was used in the Crown Pictures movie The Hearse, but only the instrumental section and for about five seconds playing in Trish Van Devere's car. It's thus used as cruising music in both films, although this film is all abut cruising.
According to the DVD commentary, director William Sachs was forced to put in a certain amount of disco and sex scenes.
