This film was shot in four and a half hours in a single day.
The Thai waitress was the actual waitress who worked at the Sambo's restaurant.
Sambo's was an actual restaurant chain which lived out its life in the early to mid-1980s. Midway through the chain's history, its name was abbreviated, and Sambo's became Sam's; this was because most people didn't know that the name "Sambo's" was a combination of parts of the two founders' names, and had nothing to do with the book - about an Indian boy - until friends pointed it out. Sambo's did adopt some images from the book, but retracted those as times changed and eventually rebranded as Sam's to avoid affiliation with racially charged material.
