Madame Bovary (1975) is a British period television series. The miniseries was adapted for television by Giles Cooper from French novelist Gustave Flaubert's 1857 novel "Madame Bovary: Provincial Manners." The miniseries was directed by Rodney Bennett and starred Francesca Annis in the lead role with Tom Conti as her husband. It originally aired in four episodes on BBC 2 in 1975.
Francesca Annis (Madame Bovary) and Denis Lill (Rodolphe Boulanger) both played love interests three years later in the TV series "Lillie" as Lillie Langtry and the Prince of Wales.
