I just purchased a Honeywell Home Series 9 Portable Wireless Doorbell off of Amazon. This is the version that allows you to connect the unit to a computer with a USB cord (provided) and drop .mp3 files onto it. It worked the very first time. I cleaned up the only version of the Jefferson's doorbell audio file I could find online, but will hopefully try to capture a better version of that timeless doorbell chime soon.

After eleven seasons on CBS the network decided to cancel the long running sitcom without giving the writers, producers and cast the opportunity to film a series finale. The show ended abruptly in the summer of 1985 despite the fact that it performed consistently high in prime time ratings for the majority of its long network run. After many years leads Sherman Helmsley and Isabel Sanford had expressed interest in reprising the characters of George and Louise Jefferson for a possible reunion movie for television ,though, it never happened and no script was written. Isabel Sanford died in 2005 and Sherman Helmsley passed on in 2012 so now the show lives on in reruns and on DVD.

Another way to look at it... Most shows don't get proper sendoffs. They are cancelled by a decision in-between seasons. It's that simple. One positive way to look at it is, certain shows, like The Jeffersons, don't need a sendoff because their lives simply went on like before.
