- Ann Barrett: How did it end?
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: If it had ended, we would not be here.
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: I was the only one to make it out of here alive and sane in 1953, and I will be the only one to make it out of here alive and sane this time.
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: I get the impression that you know quite a bit about Belasco. Do you mind sharing it with us?
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: His first name was Emeric. He was born on March the 23rd, 1879. He was the illegitimate son of an American munitions maker.
- Ann Barrett: What did he look like?

- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: Yes, I am. That is his second wife. She commited suicide in this room in 1927.
- Ann Barrett: [after listening to a recording of Belasco's voice] What made the record player turn on?
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: Belasco claimed he was able to will people's attention to an object and then move among them unobserved.
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: I doubt that.
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: Do you? Our attention was on that a moment ago. How do you know he didn't just walk right by us?
- Ann Barrett: You... me... that girl... Lionel... all together... naked... drunk... clutching... sweating... biting...
- Ann Barrett: Isn't it just another so-called haunted house?
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: It's the Mount Everest of haunted houses. There were two attempts to investigate it. Both were disasters. Eight people died. Fischer was the only one who survived, and when he crawled out he was a mental wreck.
- Florence Tanner: [speaking to Benjamin Fischer while temporarily possessed by Belasco] Who the hell do you think you are, you bastard? You might have been hot stuff when you were fifteen, but now you're shit!
- Emeric Belasco: Welcome to my house. I'm delighted you could come. I'm certain you will find your stay here most illuminating. Think of me as your unseen host, and believe that during your stay here I shall be with you in spirit. May you find the answer that you seek. It is here, I promise you. And now, auf Wiedersehen.
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: Yes, I know the score: you do not fight this house! Look, Hell House doesn't mind a guest or two. What it doesn't like is people who attack it. Belasco doesn't like it; his people, they don't like it, and they will fight back and they will kill you. So, listen to me. You just leave that damn machine alone and you spend the rest of the week resting, doing nothing. When Sunday comes, you tell old Deutsch anything he wants to hear and bank the money. If you try anything else, you will be a dead man, with a dead wife at your side!
- Florence Tanner: The Lord certainly does move in mysterious ways.
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: So does this house.
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: If there's anything you'd care to tell us?
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: What's to tell? The house tried to kill me; it almost succeeded.
- Florence Tanner: It's hideous.
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: We're not even inside yet, Miss Tanner.
- Florence Tanner: I don't have to be.
- Ann Barrett: Well, this house certainly hasn't lived up to its reputation so far.
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: It hasn't taken our measure yet.
- Florence Tanner: He's like a general with his army, never entering the battle but always controlling it.
- Florence Tanner: I will have you know that there is nothing in the Bible, not a single phenomenon, that doesn't happen today. Be it sights or sounds, shaking of the house, coming through closed doors, rushing winds, levitations, automatic writing or the speaking in tongues!
- Benjamin Franklin Fischer: You're the one who should leave this house. You're the one who's being used, not me.
- Dr. Lionel Barrett: In essence, the house is a giant battery, the residual energy of which must inevitably be tapped by those who enter it.
