There were stories of prints being hacked to pieces when released. The forced lesbian scenes were intact upon its theatrical 91 minute release, but Wes Craven thought he'd went too far, and took out some scenes which he felt the film didn't need (ie: those scenes.) Roy Frumkes provided outtakes and dailies for the original DVD releases, but the forced lesbian scenes were rejected by MGM. Although there are reports of a Japanese release containing these scenes, Metrodome's R2 Three-Disc Ultimate Edition provides five minutes of exclusive silent footage, which includes the forced lesbian scene. Fortunately, the outtakes and rushes lack the full disembowellment scene, which was present on the MGM release. This suggests the rushes were sourced from those on the Anchor Bay DVD, which were censored.

In Britain the old DVDs from Anchor Bay are all censored. Approx. 30 seconds are missing in these versions, showing some violent scenes involving the characters of Phyllis and Mari. All cuts were waived for the latest DVD releases in the UK.

Basically, yes. Vestron released two different versions on VHS in the States. The first release was a heavily cut R-Rated version while the second is quite interesting. This version is slightly different from the one that Wes Craven authorized and which was released on DVD. There are a few alternative shots, with a few extensions during Phyliss' death being the most interesting. Also, this version has ending credits and the text flash "early next morning..." at the twenty minutes mark. Apart from the opening credits the DVD version features no such thing.

The production company became really creative for the release of "Last House on the Left": the movie was shown in theaters with lots of different titles, e.g. "Sex Crime of the Century, "Night of Vengeance", "Krug & Company" and "Last House on the Left". The company wanted to test which of these titles is most accepted by the audience. The most successful one was "Last House on the Left", that's why most of the DVD releases have this title. This "Krug & Company" Cut on the release by XT Video is based on the UK DVD (2 Discs) by Anchor Bay. In addition to the order change of some scenes, this version also contains lots of cuts made for censorship. These cuts were made to get the BBFC 18 rating. The cuts are identical with the regular BBFC 18 version on DVD.
