Misleading tile for a loose and lame crime comedy

The title, an obvious takeoff on Dario Argento's "Il Gatto A Nove Code", released just the previous year, prepares you for a giallo parody, which certainly sounds like an interesting idea. However, the actual film has virtually nothing to do with the giallo genre (in fact, there barely seems to be a script at all). It is, at best, a loose and lame crime comedy with Franco and Ciccio being chased around by diamond smugglers in hippie-filled Amsterdam. There are some scattered laughs (for all his infamous mugging, I do think of Franco Franchi as a gifted comedian), but too many dull patches and repeated gags. ** out of 4.
