Despite appearing in previous entries in the series Hibotan bakuto (1968) as Hanaoka and Carta de uma flor (1969) as Katagiri, here Ken Takakura plays entirely new but similar wandering character Koji Yashiro, even first arriving on screen in a similar manner carrying a parasol in the rain as in the previous film. Hibotan Oryu meets this third man and appears unfazed as to his unacknowledged resemblance to her other identical friends.
