Alec Stiles: [to Cordell] There's only one scientific way to get rid of a stoolie: let the cops bump him off.

Alec Stiles: And there's one thing you'd better get straight: there's just one idea man in this outfit - me. I do the thinking. I give the orders.
Gene Cordell: That's o. k. by me. Boss.
Alec Stiles: Hm - yeah, I'm gonna like you, Georgie. You catch up fast. Here
[gives him a pack of cash]
Alec Stiles: , buy yourself a closet full of clothes. I like my boys to look sharp.

[at the warehouse, Alec Stiles and Shivvy have placed an unconcious Gene Cordell on top of a safe in the office. As the two of them are planning to leave, Cordell falls onto the floor]
Alec Stiles: [points his gun at Shivvy] Put him back.
Shivvy: [worrying] But the cops...
Alec Stiles: [levels his gun] Put him back, I said.

[following Alec Stiles' death, Gene Cordell and Inspector Briggs can be seen observing the scene. As this is going on, Commissioner Ralph Demory ascends some stairs followed by a few policemen]
Commissioner Ralph Demory: Well, Inspector, I didn't expect to find the FBI here. We got a tip on a robbery.
Inspector George A. Briggs: We got a tip, too.
Commissioner Ralph Demory: Oh, is that so?
Inspector George A. Briggs: [looks at Cordell] Yes, from one of our agents here. Mr. Demory, I'd like to have you meet George Manly.
[Demory holds up his hand for a handshake when Briggs pulls out a set of handcuffs and puts them onto Demory's arm]

Shivvy: Out kinda late, ain'tcha?
Gene Cordell: What's the idea?
Shivvy: Where ya been, Georgie?
Gene Cordell: I took a ferry across the river.
Shivvy: What for?
Gene Cordell: What's it to ya?
Shivvy: What business you got across the river?
Gene Cordell: I said, what's it to ya?
Shivvy: You don't take ferryboat rides in the middle of the night for your health. What did ya pull?
Gene Cordell: Ya got a long nose. Why don'tcha keep it to yourself!
Shivvy: From now on y'ain't got no business that ain't Alec's.
Gene Cordell: Ya mean I gotta share my special numbers with you mugs?
Shivvy: [Smiles] What's the matter with the dames on *this* side of the river?
Gene Cordell: [Playing Shivvy's solitaire hand] you got a red queen on a red king.
