Resumos

  • White Horse Rebels, under the command of a mystery villain known only as The Leader, attempt to create an independent "White Horse Republic" in Canada's north west. Funded by gold from the Marrow Mine, they attack Canadian settlements in the area. The North-West Mounted Police, represented primarily by hero Sgt. Ward and his sidekick Constable Nevin are, work to top the rebels and discover The Leader's real identity. An added complication comes in the form of First Nations, Blackfeet driven into Canada from the United States, who attack both sides and whom the rebels attempt to use as scapegoats for their own attacks.—Anonymous
  • Chapter 1 - A Trap for the Mounties Sergeant Joe Ward (Jock Mahoney) and Constable Arch Perry (Tommy Farrell), friends since childhood, serve together at the Bleak River post of the Northwest Mounted Police. When a wounded mountie rides in with news of raiders at Sweetgrass Valley, Inspector Wheeler (Lyle Talbot) assigns the two to investigate. Not far away, in an isolated wilderness clearing, seven men and a woman are waiting. They include Gale Lynch (Marshall Reed), Walt Anders (Zon Murray) , Hank Bridger (Greg Barton), Dakota (Pierce Lyden) and Arnold Reed (Lee Roberts.) The girl is Rita Cravel (Phullis Coates). A cloaked, masked man in black appears astride a a white horse. He is obviously their leader. In a disguised voice, he explains his plans. They are to take over the territory, proclaiming it the White Horse Republic. Mines, banks, the wealth of the country will be under their control. With the help of their Indian allies, they can overcome any opposition from the mounted police. He then orders them to intercept police reinforcements being sent out from Regina. Before leaving, The Leader privately warns Lynch, his second in command, against trusting Rita Carvel; he has doubts as to her motives. Joe checks a report of a killing at Pine Lake. He finds Arnold Reed working the Pierre Moline claim. The mountie extracts a slug from the tent pole and pockets a piece of wood bearing the White Horse symbol. Reed claims to have purchased the mine from Moline before he was killed but can produce no proof. Joe orders him off the claim. Reed pulls a gun, but the mountie beats him in a quick fight. Fletcher Stone (Joe Allen,Jr.), Indian agent for the territory, rides up and Reed shoves Joe at him, draws a second gun and rides off. Joe loses Reed when he escapes across a lake in a canoe. At the post, Inspector Wheeler finds that a slug fired from Reed's gun matches the one Joe brought in as well as the one Arch found when investigating an attack on the Baldwin Hills trading post. The fugitive must be brought in to answer to both crimes of murder. Meanwhile, Wheeeler sends the two to meet the new mounties at Swan Lake Bed and escort them in through South Pass. Chief Running Elk (Chief Yowlachie) sends his son Bear Tooth (Rodd Redwing) with warriors to wipe them out. Joe and Arch meet Sergeant Dan Wells (John Hart) and Constable Bram Nevin (Clayton Moore) just before the Indians attack. Joe, Arch and Bram make a stand as the attackers circle them. Three Indians jump them from the rocks. Bram, wounded, kills one. Above, Lynch signals Dakota (Pierce Lyden) to fire the explosives when Joe and Arch knock out the others. The three mounties pull back to the shelter of the hill. Then the dynamite explodes and an avalanche thunders over the trapped mounties.
