Dale Evans has a risque song and dance number in the movie, filmed before she met future husband Roy Rogers. Rogers co-starred with John Wayne in "Dark Command" in 1941. She also wrote the song "Ah, San Antone" featured in the Wayne film "Rio Grande" in 1950.

John Wayne and Albert Dekker have a fistfight about halfway through the film, with no obvious winner. A year earlier, Wayne and Dekker had another fight, this time in a bar, in the film "In Old California". That too was broken up before a winner could be declared.
"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on
March 13, 1944 with Martha Scott and Albert Dekker reprising their film roles.
