First we get the cartoon portion of this Fleischer Screen Song. It's set at a radio station and we get caricatures of popular players, some of whom are still known among the elderly: Bing Crosby, the Mills Brothers, and Rudy Vallee among them. Then we go to the central piece, a sing-along led by James Melton. "Who?" you may ask, and I would agree with you, except that the credits call him "Radio's Most Popular Tenor." He sings three songs that are by modern standards icky in their sentimentality, and then we can gt back to the random gags needed to bring this up to length.
I think whatever pollin method they used to arrive at Melton as the apex of popularity used a flawed system.
