Joe Schenck was a big baseball fan and for a while was the captain of a Vaudeville all-star baseball team. Tragically, he died of heart disease six months after after the movie was released.

Tom Dugan, who plays the Blue Sox's stuttering Tim, also appeared in the remake, A Bela Ditadora (1949), as the Wolves' coach Slappy.
According to Loew's Weekly (21 December 1929) the film's title was originally going to be "Playing The Field."
