Boogeyman (2005) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The What Happened to This Horror Movie episode on Boogeyman was written by Jaime Vasquez:

Reaching its twentieth anniversary this year is 2005’s Boogeyman, not to be confused with the slow-burn atmospheric Stephen King adaptation from 2023, or the 1980 Halloween knockoff that shamelessly used “you can’t kill the boogeyman” in its trailer. This Boogeyman was the PG-13 horror movie seemingly designed to terrify middle schoolers into never sleeping again. Back in 2005, you can bet plenty of kids went home from the theater and immediately cleared their closets, checked under their beds, and banished any oddly-shaped coat racks that could resemble a person in the dark. Sam Raimi, fresh off...

Chita Rivera, Showstopping Legend of Broadway Musicals, Dies at 91
Chita Rivera
Chita Rivera, the sultry singer, dancer and actress who commanded the Broadway stage for more than a half-century, has died. She was 91.

Rivera died peacefully in New York on Tuesday, following a brief illness, her daughter, Lisa Mordente, shared in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

Known for her long, sleek legs, smoldering green eyes and lusty singing voice, the two-time Tony Award winner originated some of musical theater’s most iconic characters.

When West Side Story bowed in 1957, it was Rivera singing about life in America as the fiery Puerto Rican transplant Anita. As Rose Grant, the long-suffering girlfriend of songwriter Albert Peterson, Rivera received top billing over Dick Van Dyke in 1960’s Bye Bye Birdie. In 1975, she made the stage sizzle with “All That Jazz” as Velma Kelly in Chicago. And the 1993 musical adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman put her in the spotlight as the sexy Spider Woman.

Restraining Order Granted on Behalf of ‘Ferris Bueller’ Actress Edie McClurg in Elder Abuse Case
Matthew Broderick in Curtindo a Vida Adoidado (1986)
The conservator for “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” actress Edie McClurg was granted a restraining order against an alleged abuser on Tuesday, according to documents obtained by TheWrap.

The conservatorship was set up in 2019 and is run by “Life in Pieces” actress Angelique Cabral, whose mother is McClurg’s cousin.

The documents state that Cabral is “highly concerned” about a man named Michael Ramos, who has been living with the 78-year-old character actress and previously attempted to marry her. According to the documents, he sexually assaulted one of McClurg’s caregivers, and that woman fears he might also be assaulting McClurg.

According to the filing, Ramos “finagled” his way into McClurg’s home and attempted to take her out of state to marry her, even though he knew she “lacked capacity” to consent to a marriage.

At age 10, Ukraine-born Mila Kunis landed a small role in the 1995 short movie “Make a Wish, Molly” about a Russian Jewish girl newly arrived in the U.S.

Kunis also played small parts in mid-’90s TV shows like “Baywatch.”

She had a recurring role as Ashley in the WB family series “Seventh Heaven” in 1996-97.

Kevin Spacey
A column chronicling conversations and events during the Emmy awards season.

With House of Cards completely out of the picture in terms of this year’s Emmy Awards, the Television Academy dodged a bullet in terms of dealing with any problem arising from having to answer questions about Kevin Spacey, who was dropped from the show by Netflix after explosive allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced from several people. He was also dropped by just about everyone else he was in business with too, including his already filmed role in the Ridley Scott movie All the Money in the World, where he was famously replaced by Christopher Plummer who got an Oscar nomination for his efforts.

The multiple Oscar- and Tony Award-winning Spacey has been nominated 12 times in various capacities for Emmys, mostly as producer and star of House of Cards, but has never won. It appeared he would finally be...

Remembering Cat People Star Simon on 10th Anniversary of Her Death (Fully Revised/Updated Part I)
Simone Simon: Remembering the 'Cat People' and 'La Bête Humaine' star (photo: Simone Simon 'Cat People' publicity) Pert, pretty, pouty, and fiery-tempered Simone Simon – who died at age 94 ten years ago, on Feb. 22, 2005 – is best known for her starring role in Jacques Tourneur's cult horror movie classic Cat People (1942). Those aware of the existence of film industries outside Hollywood will also remember Simon for her button-nosed femme fatale in Jean Renoir's French film noir La Bête Humaine (1938).[1] In fact, long before Brigitte Bardot, Annette Stroyberg, Mamie Van Doren, Tuesday Weld, Ann-Margret, and Barbarella's Jane Fonda became known as cinema's Sex Kittens, Simone Simon exuded feline charm – with a tad of puppy dog wistfulness – in a film career that spanned two continents and a quarter of a century. From the early '30s to the mid-'50s, she seduced men young and old on both...
