This is the last of four films that Rita Hayworth made freelancing before returning to Columbia Pictures.
When the Painted Stallion is fighting the black stallion, this scene is taken from The Devil Horse (1926). This battle between stallions has been edited into Wild Horse Round-Up (1936), Montanha Tentadora (1936), Soberanos da Sela (1937), Cavalo Infernal (1932), O Fantasma do Oeste (1930), Dominador das Selvas (1934), and O Aliado Misterioso (1937). The black stallion is actually the famous Rex the Wonder Horse.
From the "Weekly Variety" magazine: "The girl [Rita Hayworth, as Rita Cansino] is highly deficient in terps and as an actress, but it is of no consequence."
This was one of the Republic Mesquiteer films and the male characters wore typical Hollywood western clothes. This was not true for the female characters--e.g., Rita Hayworth's clothes were the style of 1937, when the film was released.
