After a single viewing of the film, producer David O. Selznick brought Ingrid Bergman to Hollywood to sign a contract with Selznick International. Bergman and Selznick then remade the film as Intermezzo: Uma História de Amor (1939), with Leslie Howard.

The film was remade a second time as Minha Estrada Minha Vida (1980), starring Willie Nelson.

This film is included in the "Eclipse Series 46: Ingrid Bergman's Swedish Years" DVD set, released by Criterion.
