The original version has the best music. It is by Konrad Elfers who is little known. I have been researching him and his music for about 15 years and there is very little info out there. Every year something new pops up on the internet and he even has a wiki page now. That was not always the case. As with most silent films, different releases feature different music. The two-disc Kino International release from 2006 contains a score by Aljoscha Zimmermann and the second DVD includes a brief interview with the composer.
