Meh... Enjoyable but questionable history.

I really did like this show, but then they explored the Emerald Hill House, which is less than 5 minutes from my home. This episode let me see just home little work they actually do looking into backgrounds and area history. Internet rumor is not historical fact. The Colvin's were never accused of witchcraft and its NOT a witch's broom on the stone - it's an upturned torch. Even a little bit of research or a phone call to the historical society (or any of our THREE local paranormal groups) could have cleared up a lot. So as much as I enjoy the show, I now have to question every historical "fact" they give, which really makes it hard to enjoy.

Kept an open mind, but now skeptical

I know there's no such thing as real reality TV, but I still enjoy ghost hunting shows. I'm giving this brand new show a chance, having first stumbled upon episode 2. But I was just watching episode 1, and the editors added a STOCK SOUNDBITE OF A WOMAN GASPING and tried to pass it off as Katrina gasping smh. Come on, cast and crew! You don't want us to question the "realism" of your show? Don't put in cheesy sounds and vfx!!

But since I'm optimistic, on to episode 3...

Like it, but

I really like the show, but the only problem I have is that they involve the camera crew. Other than that Katrina is the best in my opinion, she's a fearless leader.

Very disappointed in Katrina

I don't understand why Katrina is pretending she has never been to the Bob Mackey bar! She was locked down for 72 hrs when she was on Paranormal Lockdown. With this show she is acting like she has never stepped foot in the place, if she acts that way next week at Eastern State I will have to stop watching!

Newest ghost show a bit of alright

Bobby Mackey show was great. Love Katrina, love Jack, need to take out all the other people in the room and focus more on the two hosts. And for the love of Mike, those who left a comment about the size of the hosts need to go take a long look at what's wrong in their life to make them think it's ok to refer to others in that manner! Miss Paranormal Lockdown, always enjoyed Jacks show, this one has some kinks to work out but overall enjoyable.

Let's give this a chance!

I rated this a 10 to offset all the people who are upset over the Nick Groff drama and rating this low on purpose. The show can use a little tweaking and if given the chance it could be great. Why do we see so much of the producers? I mean, I really can't blame them for wanting to partake but it's a little distracting and could disrupt and discredit evidence. I love background history of places. More of that please. I really love how they are getting into interesting places that I haven't seen on camera yet. Looking forward to seeing the LaLaurie mansion episode!! I think it's great that Jack has an interest in the paranormal and I find him likeable. Yeah, his father is famous. He could be out partying and just being a brat but instead he's trying to contribute to the paranormal world. I thinks it's refreshing to see passion like that. He's not doing it for a check so I feel he's credible. Katrina is likable and has experience. Potential for a nice, balanced team. Yes, she's no longer with Nick. Her life does have to go on guys. It's not her fault.

Best paranormal show

I love this show, Katrina is a fearless leader who knows her stuff. You can fell the fear crawl thru the screen, and that's what I like. My new best weekend show, I just cant wait for more.

So much wasted potential

The show's premise had me extremely excited but it absolutely fell flat in execution. It went from a show I was stoked to watch to something to put on in the background while I do something else. Maybe I'm being a little harsh since there's only been 4 episodes thus far (Bobby Mackey's was most recent) and I'll give it a few more, but rough start.

First, they use little to no equipment ala Ghost Adventures like mapping cameras, spirit boxes, etc and instead use pretty much only an EMF detector and a watered-down version of Ghost Adventures spirit box. It is all based on Jack and Katrina saying "this place is eerie" or "I feel a presence". Jack is terrible as he is terrified of his own shadow and Katrina is a disappointment because she's excellent in other shows she's been on

Second, they've got like 5-10 people in every shot and wonder why they don't pick up anything. They seem too terrified to go anywhere alone and after not picking up anything they call in "a psychic medium friend" who walks around and again just says "this place is haunted." The medium on the Eastern Penitentiary episode literally came on and said "I'm picking up that this is a place people came to die." No s***? It's a jail.

The Bobby Mackey's episode was the biggest disappointment of all because they had every opportunity to really capitalize on what Ghost Adventures started and instead went the route of running 5 people around together and a "automatic writer" that did nothing to really prove anything. 50% of the episode was watching some girl doodle words and say "they want to hurt you." If they ever run into something remotely paranormal, they book it the other way or leave it alone and go somewhere else. Also, the "producer" who needs to comment and guide them every few seconds gets annoying.

Give them a break!

I watch these types of shows all the time, and Jack and Katrina are doing a great job. It's very believable and not over dramatic like Ghost Adventures (that's an unwatchable show). These negative reviews and way to critical!

Fairly Enjoyable

I was very reluctant to watch this show because of the name, "Portals to Hell". It kind of gives the impression that this show is about them trying to prove there is a doorway to hell in these locations which isn't actually an accurate assessment of what they're doing. They're going in with the intention of investigating these places like any other "ghost hunting" show.

What I like about this show is that they let you see and kind of get to know the behind-the-scenes crew. They actually show if one of the crew has an encounter while at a location which helps to add validation to a haunting. I also like that Jack Osbourne seems to have a skeptical nature which is nice in comparison to some other shows where every noise and every sight is a "demon".

I don't like that they had Cindy Kaza on as a "psychic medium". I've seen her in other things and I don't believe she's a psychic or a medium. When she joined them at Bobby Mackey's, the information she gave them was stuff that has been well documented in other ghost hunting shows, specifically Ghost Adventures, and the haunted tour guide that took Jack around at the beginning of the episode mentioned the one and only documented death was a man who got in a fight and basically dropped dead from a blow to his head. Cindy could have EASILY researched that. And I'm sorry but "automatic writing" sounds like a bunch of BS and it didn't escape my notice that you didn't really get to see what she was writing.

Suffice to say, that Portals to Hell isn't really a unique concept because just about every type of ghost hunting show that could be done, has been done. But if you're like me and like to watch these shows to see what kind of evidence people get, then give this a shot.

By far the worst Paranormal show I've ever seen!

Everything about this show is just awful, there's zero chemistry between Jack and Katrina which leads to a bunch of awkward moments are silence. Also I hate the way they investigate. They investigate with a group of 20 people, 15 cameras, all the lights/flashlights on, they don't debunk anything, the woman producer ALWAYS hears something no one else does and it's just ridiculous. Jack thinks every Knock or Beep is a intelligent spirit talking to him and answering his questions, it's funny how it's always 1 knock or 1 beep means YES, never NO. Then anytime there is a shadow or something jack eithers says "that's the craziest thing I've ever seen, WOW!" or he will run away from it, not go after it or try to debunk it. I'm sorry but I grew up watching T.A.P.S and those guys knew how to investigate.

Entertaining, not nearly as bad as some (maybe with an agenda?) are saying

It's no Ghost Hunters, but it's certainly better than Paranormal Lockdown, which was good, but succumbed to faking evidence. Jack is cool, but he seems a bit out of his element here. I think he can find a groove though. Katrina is Katrina and is great as usual. If I could change anything, I would have less camerapersons and producers around (it's distracting and bad for evidence collection), I would be more skeptical about what is evidence (not every little thing is paranormal), I wouldn't use the Geobox as much (it's junk "science" that uses matrixing to create evidence that isn't there) and I would ditch the entire "portal" aspect of the show. Keep the name, ditch the assumptions, hypothesis and discussion about portals. They may exist, but what does that matter when you can't prove they do. It sounds like psychobabble at a certain point. I'm rating this 10 to counterbalance all the ridiculous 1s and 2s some of these ignorant people are giving it. They are getting into some fantastic places that haven't been investigated and have an opportunity to progress as a show, as long as they are willing to make some changes. In it's current state, I would give it a 7. But I'm rooting for them.

Really like the show, but

I really like show, but I would like to see more history of the location, and maybe a little bit of reenactments, but not to much. The parts that I dislike the most is that they involve the camera crew to much, I think that only Katrina ,Jack and the people being interviewed should be the ones on camera talking.

Really bad

Most of the show goes on hearsay. Every sound is accepted as ghost evidence. Never questioned or debunked. No real evidence. I have been to one of their destinations and they did not have accurate history. They mostly went by what they heard. It is NOT a portal! Check ur resources!!!! Get the proof. Anyone can say...I heard that too!

Really good show with a great team

As a paranormal investigator I found the methods used on thee show perfect. I have gotten some of my best evidence by asking for knocks, listening for voices, and sensing things. I love that they are sticking to old school. A compass, a simple homemade Electroscope, and other tools do yield great results. I hope Katrina and Jack stick to this way of paranormal investigation. There is no need for any group to use what is really is no more than locus-pocus equipment. Keep up the good work and happy Ghost Hunting.

Really good show

I really like this series. Jack can be pretty funny sometimes. That adds a nice layer to the shows. However, I wish they went to the place blind and deaf. Not knowing anything about the place. The owner or whatever could just say where they need to pay particular attention to. It will make it different and interesting I'm not a fan of the psychics. Any of them. I think it cheapens the show. Just like that British ghost show, Most Haunted. I can, 100% of the time, tell when Derek is going to get possessed. It's hilarious.

Frauds...Addendum

Would like to give no stars but hit 2 in error. I love paranormal investigation shows and wanted to give this one a chance. First one seeing, S1:E5, and already turned off by Jack's deliberate knock on the wall to defraud his audience. Sayonara PTH

Contracts

First off both Katrina and Jack have in their contracts they will not fake evidence of the paranormal. I liked Paranormal Lockdown, but I could see opportunities Nick took to fake evidence. Three years of Paranormal Lockdown, 14 years of Ghost Hunters and 3 years of Kindred Spirit shows you just how fake Ghost Adventures is. I am only interested in the shows that do not fake evidence. I don't like the name Portals to Hell, but their call. Jack is an executive producer means he owns the show. If you watch interviews with Jack and Katrina you'll see they do have chemistry. And due to the controversy with Nick is why it is not showing Katrina has been at these places before. They are probably trying to distance the new show from the controversy. When you don't fake evidence the shows may be less dramatic. Less drama means a little boring. Unless we have these shows telling the truth we will never understand or make advances in the field of the paranormal. Shows like Ghost Adventures hurts the entire industry, because they feed into myths and lies.

Just as Fake as the rest unfortunately

They do the same things as the rest of the fake paranormal shows. Anytime the chick uses the Geoport, she claims to hear a certain phrase and says it out loud while the editor added a subtitle. Than when it's played again for the viewers, they are mislead to believe they heard the same thing because the sub title tricks the mind. All paranormal shows do this which sucks. I've yet to find an authentic show. Another thing they do is have the camera approach the handheld device that they put on the floor to "detect " spirits that pass the sensor making it light up and buzz. It's not a ghost haha it's simply the camera, smart watch, cell phones or other ghost hunting handhelds that make the alarm shoot off. So rewatch it with that in mind and see for yourself haha.

An honest investigation - finally!

I have followed Katrina from Paranormal State to Paranormal Lockdown to Portals to Hell and have seen her grow in this field of paranormal investigation. Jack Osborne brings a fresh perspective and leads the investigation like so many of the rest of us would - without all the over-the-top dramatics offered elsewhere. His responses so many times reflect my own and I don't find myself laughing at him or shaking my head unbelievably or saying sarcastically "oh right, just send Aaron!" Yes, I watch the other shows too but this one is my favorite by far. It has real investigators and some of these sites Katrina has been to before and has experience at. So yes, I am a 10 on this show and as I am someone who has myself dealt with the supernatural all my life it is by far the most believable.

People really need to remember this is for entertainment purposes only

All of these shows follow a similar format.

There is no proof that Ghosts or Demons exist or that anyone truly has an ability to commune with spirits.

The technology used is questionable, I mean as if a ghost would know how to communicate through a radio remembering that the "ghosts" are of people who lived often 100's of years before radios were invented, in the same way that they can magically pick words from devices holding a database of words.

Take it for what it largely is, a fictional fantasy world, nothing more or less & you will enjoy it more.

At least these shows largely carry a disclaimer now that the shows are purely for entertainment purposes.

They just seem bored

There are a very few decent paranormal TV shows, like Kindred Spirits, in which they seem to be involved in what they are investigating, and actually doing something to interact with whatever might be present. Then there are the totally stupid ones, like Ghost Adventures where they just freak themselves out and get melodramatic. Portals to Hell, on the other hand just seems like the two of them are bored out of their minds but need the job. Their idea of an investigation is to kill time and then do a reveal. The psychics that they call in, like Cindy Kaza, are the only interesting parts of the show, and their involvement is brief. Don't waste your time with this.

Did you see?

First I have to say I love you guys. Show is amazing!!! I just watched the episode of you at Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and you were in Dean's room. You sent up the toys and candy on the floor and this light came from the wall on the left across the floor and turned a little before disappearing. You never mentioned it. Didnt know if maybe it was something or nothing at all.

It's Not Bad

I keep watching it. It's not one of the best ghost hunter shows, but it keeps me entertained. I also like how they bring in psychics to see what they pick up. It's TV so is it real? Idk. But they seem to bring in a psychic in the beginning for each episode and to me it just gives it one more layer.

My goodness, does this show suck!!

Where to begin? Let's start with Katrina and Jack- or should we call them Oil and Water. Zero Chemistry.. and I'm guessing this is on Katrina. She has been paired with other "hunters" in the past and as always, she is just a body. But at the same time- Jack is living off his father's name and he comes across as a 13 year old kid who gets giddy whenever there is a temperature fluctuation on his gage. This is literally all he does the entire episode. I've never been so bored watching a show about Ghosts in my life. I wish I could give this Zero Stars.
