A new face

Arielle's so full of Botox, no movement in her face, too bad.

Cherry blossoms and romance...spring is truly here.

This was a softly lit hallmark romance filled with spring flowers and a gorgeous lead couple. Nick Bates of matchmaker's playlist fame plays the charming and charismatic best friend's brother and Arielle Kebbel plays the girl who always wanted to paint...but now paints on the side of her painting school which she is looking to expand. She meets the man of her dreams...but then decides maybe he isn't.

This was a beautiful breath of spring to see cherry blossoms and two beautiful people fall in love. Romantics will enjoy this sweet film.

Romantically Cute!!!

Arielle and Nick have an amazing chemistry! The story was a bit repetitive from previous movies but still fun to watch.

It was a nice romcom

It was a nice romcom but I really hated all the paintings. All of them looked forced and it only make me want to rate higher every other movie I ever saw with great art work in them.

Pretty Good!

At first I thought Nick Bateman was TOO Handsome, if that is possible, but he grew on me. Kebbel was gorgeous yet down to earth and I thought she had good chemistry with the hero, and zero chemistry with the red herring. The movie was beautifully shot with gorgeous and colorful flowers and paint. It had a real romantic and professional crisis that really actually worried me for about a second. The downside was that Kebbel's character did a real stupid thing near the end which I couldn't even believe, and her paintings were kind of sickeningly sweet.

Dull men

One woman, two men. Both men were kind of stiff, though I found the posh guy more interesting than the rugged bearded free spirit. Rugged guy was just such a cardboard cutout that it ruined the story. The two lead women were interesting, but I get the feeling the writers forgot that they needed to make the men interesting too.

A Brush of Cuteness!

This was a really cute movie! Loved the storyline and watching the painting scenes. The female lead is great, none of the awkward perkiness and seemed like a real person! The male lead seemed a little too "kiddy" in the beginning, it was a little wierd or this movie would've gotten a 10! Glad I watched though, the flowers were eye-candy - so beautiful - lots of pink. Overall, great spring movie to watch on a cold winter day!

Favorite scene - The playful painting faces scene! Very cute.

Painted in romance

'A Brush with Love' did have a nice cute idea going for it, love and painting is a good harmonious mix. Arielle Kebbel can be very expressive and likeable, but has had times in other projects where she tries too hard. Am not too familiar with Nick Bateman, actually can't remember whether there is anything in his filmography that has already been seen by me. Having said that, my expectations were not high considering the negativity that has been garnered here.

Negativity that to me is deserved and justifiable. 'A Brush with Love' has a few good things, but it just has very little to it and came over as very weak in most areas. As far as the 2019 Spring Fever films go, which is of variable quality, 'A Brush with Love' is towards the bottom. When it comes to the previous 2019 Spring Fever films, 'Flip that Romance' left me mixed and 'Love to the Rescue' to me was among the best Hallmark films for that year.

Shall begin with citing the good. The best thing about 'A Brush with Love' is Kebbel, who radiates charm and has a lovely energy and charm without overdoing either. The female supporting cast did quite well, with Hilary Jardine a standout.

The scenery is beautiful and nicely shot.

Bateman however is very wooden and also behaves in a juvenile manner reminiscent of teenagehood. Also found Matthew James Dowden bland, and both characters were dull as dishwater and hard to root for. Bateman and Kebbel have no chemistry together, didn't get the sense of them being in love and it was like he was too immature for her. The film also makes little effort to develop their relationship, which is basically only just there with nothing to it. The direction lacks any kind of distinction and there is nothing memorable or interesting about the music.

Script is awkward and goes overboard on the cheese and schmaltz. More could have been done with the setting, nice idea but underused. The story is very formulaic, meaning that everything is obvious long before it happens, is far too thin which affects the pace and lacks charm and energy. Dull and bland are the two main adjectives to describe 'A Brush with Love'. The characters are too one dimensional and also on the dysfunctional side, with a heavy-handedly negative emphasis on commitment.

In summary, pretty bad. 3/10.

An anti romance

An artist meets a nice guy. Later she doesn't feel a spark. Her bestie's brother always had a torch for her.

Arielle Kebbel looks nicer than in TVD. Nick Bateman plays her love interest but he is a little plastic.

A lukewarm delclaration of love is followed by a mediocre crisis.

Not enough substance for a romance movie.

At least Arielle was good

Nick Bateman's acting is like a 13 year old playing the part of a 10 year old, and has no place on the same screen as Arielle Kebbel. She is way out of his league. The reason there is no chemistry between the leads is his inability to act. His little kindergarten shuffle just before kissing Arielle at the end of the movie almost made me puke. Arielle Kebbel is a very talented actress and the supporting cast was great, but once again what could have been was not because of a leading man who can't act.

Great movie

I thought this movie was quite good! The chemistry between the two leads was fantastic! I would enjoy seeing them paired together again in another Hallmark movie. Loved it!

Juvenile

I felt like Jamie and Nick were both acting like adolescents. Maybe it was all the reminiscing. Commitment is mentioned frequently. Both characters seemed to have major problems with it, not only in love, but in life too. As a result, the characters were too dysfunctional for me to enjoy

Chemistry? Maybe, but it didn't impress me.

I love Arielle Kebbel. She has an expressive face and her character is sweet even if a little scatterbrained. For me, she is the only thing redeeming about this movie.

Who will she paint?

7.8 stars.

'A Brush with Love' centers on a woman who wears many faces and has many sides to her personality. Primarily she is an artist with much talent, and she's been dreaming of one day winning an art contest so she can go to Paris and have her works shown there. After a devastating breakup she loses her confidence and settles on a mundane life. A man comes back into her life, he's a roamer and a player of sorts and also her best friend's brother. They grew up together and their story goes all the way back to elementary school. Maybe they have always had a thing for each other and we will find out soon enough.

This film is an easy watch, the conversations flow, the acting is good, and everything just comes together. The attraction between the leads is tangible and familiar and most importantly her smile is electric.

A disaster, not a movie.

I have never seen a Hallmark movie as bad as this one. Arielle Kebbel should fire her agent for putting her in this 5th. Grade play. Decent screen play: does not exist. Good acting: does not exist. A movie for grammar school children: Maybe? I have watched many rom-coms with great actors. Yes Hallmark does have Autumn Reeser and other excellent talents, but this movie is simply not for adults. How anyone would pay to produce something like this is beyond me. The only reason I would recommend watching is to confirm what I have stated, it will win every stinker award. Unfortunately it is still available on Amazon Prime, so if you want to watch a serious attempt at a movie that is a comedy show, give it a shot. I lasted 20 minutes and fast fowarded to the end. Good luck.

BRUSH THIS MOVIE AWAY

Jamie Spellman (Arielle Kebbel) is an art teacher who struggles to balance her dream of painting and exhibiting her art with the reality of being just an art teacher, although a successful one. She also has a dilemma choosing between two men , with two very different personalities, competing for her attention; Max (Nick Bateman) and Michael (Matthew James Dowden).

I found the Max character to be very immature and annoying, and there were not enough scenes featuring Michael to make this a real contest of both vying for Jamie's affections. And one interesting part of the plot was we saw the two characters, Jamie and Max switch personalities; one became a dreamer, and the other took on responsibility, which was a bit of an interesting storyline which changed their relationship. But overall, and underwhelming movie.
