Honestly, I don't understand the dislike for this show. It's neither a remake nor is it trying to be better than the original. It shows the African American struggles without victimizing its main characters, which is a step in the right direction if you ask me.
Six young friends try to navigate through the perils of their lives, learning lessons of love, work, and friendship. It's not really different than shows like "New Girl" as far material and the plot lines are very interesting and well written. There are quite a few twists and this seems like a show that gives you information sparingly as it goes on rather than dropping all the information about the characters on your lap as soon as you meet them.
I like the dynamic between the cast, how natural it all feels, and yes, I'm rooting for the main couple to get together. It's got it's cliched moments but I've seen some really awful television, like cringe-worthy awful, that is rated better than this show, so ignore the hate and give it a chance.

We're out here searching for the next show to go on an adventure with and to fall in love with characters we've never met but are all too familiar but Boomerang wasn't that show.
I mean it is interesting enough to keep you watching till the last episode but that's how far it comes. It is sad because it already had a rich and very familiar background (talking about the 1992 movie it was spinned from) it could have leverage on but it missed that mark completely.
The characters were a beautiful mix and showed great promise for a modern cast but they were written too shallow to be memorable.
Generally the show lacked intrigue, suspense, conflicts and resolutions deep enough to matter.

Ok so I just started watching this show and I've never watched the original series. I'm just trying to figure out if I missed something the 1st 6 episodes Bryson was in love with simone but they were not together. All of the episodes show the cat and mouse chase between them but all off a sudden episode 7 they seem to be in a relationship. I am very annoyed with the way it just changed makes me not want to watch it anymore. And also when did the show become about lgtb I'm not against it I just don't get it after watching episode 7 I'm very dissatisfied with this series.

A friend recommended this series. I waited several weeks before actually watching.
My friend should have led with the fact that Lena Waithe, together with Halle Berry, is this series' EP.
Lena Waithe won an Emmy for the episode of Master of None she wrote - she has a gift for crafting memorable and moving TV episodes.
Lena, Halle and the rest of their team do an excellent job of weaving in classic scenes and tropes from the Boomerang movie in a fresh and modern take.
A few of the characters are annoying - until you realize: duh, they're rich 20-somethings. Exactly as they should be.
The #pride and #metoo episodes were everything. Representation matters. Thank you!!

Loved the movie, the show is an insult to it's memory. Tetona Jackson and Tequan Richmond did a good job but Lala Milan was grating. The story lines were uninteresting and they insulted the movie from which this series sprang over and over. Huge miss.
