When Low Expectations Lead to a Great Surprise

Okay, I have to be honest-when my friends and I sat down to watch Silent Zone, we fully expected a disaster. We're big fans of watching B-movies together, the kind where the plot's a mess, the acting's rough, and the fun comes from laughing at how bad it is. We grabbed snacks, got comfortable, and were ready for some low-budget, post-apocalyptic nonsense. But here's the thing... Silent Zone actually surprised us. And not in a "so bad it's good" way, but in a "wait, this is actually kind of decent?" way.

Sure, the setup is classic B-movie fare. It's the usual post-apocalyptic world, a deadly outbreak, desperate survivors, and the struggle to find safety. Nothing new there. But somewhere along the way, the film actually hooked us. The tension was solid, and there were at least three twists that none of us saw coming. Not groundbreaking stuff, but just clever enough to keep us invested. The story might be familiar, but it never felt lazy. In fact, it felt like the filmmakers were actually trying, which is more than I can say for a lot of movies in this genre.

The characters? Surprisingly good. We went in expecting cardboard cutouts, but they had depth. By the end, we actually cared about what happened to them. And yeah, I'll admit it-I got a little emotional in the final act, which is not what I thought would happen when I hit play.

And Matt Devere? Never heard of him before this, but wow. That guy has a seriously cool voice. The kind of voice that makes you pay attention. He brought this calm, tough energy to his role, and honestly, it really worked. No idea why I haven't seen him in more stuff, but he definitely stood out here.

By the end, we all looked at each other like, "That was actually good, right?" Maybe it's because we went in with zero expectations, but Silent Zone turned out to be a solid, enjoyable movie. It's not just a film to make fun of-it's one that's actually worth watching.

Worth watching

If you like zombie movies, you will like this movie. It is well above average for this genre.

The country of origin is given as Hungary, but some of this movie definitely looked like the Chernobyl restricted zone. Either way, the locations were good, the big wide angle shots were well done, the camera work was excellent. This does not look like a cheap, low budget movie.

There was character development, not a lot, but enough to keep you interested. The acting was for the most part good, especially the leading characters. Some of the secondary parts, with only a few lines, did come off as amateurish, but mostly quite professional.

It's not great or outstanding, and I will probably never watch it again, but I felt it was well worth my time on a lazy afternoon.

Overall: Above average zombie movie, recommended.

A Mixed Bag in the Zombie Genre

This movie ventures into the familiar territory of post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested worlds, delivering a film that, while not groundbreaking, offers moments of genuine engagement.

The narrative centers on Cassius and Abigail, survivors navigating a world decimated by a zombie outbreak. Their routine existence is disrupted upon encountering a pregnant woman, propelling them into a perilous journey that tests their resilience and moral boundaries. This setup introduces compelling ethical dilemmas, adding depth to the otherwise standard plotline.

Matt Devere's portrayal of Cassius stands out, infusing the character with a stoic determination that resonates on screen. His performance adds a layer of gravitas to the film, elevating scenes that might have otherwise fallen flat.

Visually, "Silent Zone" makes effective use of its setting, capturing the desolation of a world overrun by the undead. The cinematography, while not particularly innovative, serves the story well, creating an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty.

However, the film is not without its shortcomings. The pacing is uneven, with certain sequences dragging on, potentially testing the viewer's patience. Additionally, while the characters are serviceable, they lack the depth that would make their struggles more impactful.

In conclusion, "Silent Zone" offers a familiar yet moderately engaging experience for fans of the zombie genre. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but provides enough moments of tension and solid performances to warrant a viewing.

Wait for it to come out on prime

I can't even believe that I paid $5 for this movie. The fights are terrible, the "bleeding" is even worse, and the acting is really bad!! The make-up is really bad too...one part in the beginning was a woman who got bit on the face and it looked like she dipped her face in dirt or rocks. The availability of vehicles for the all too hurried escape time after time was really really bad. I get it that everyone wants to make the perfect zombie movie but it's ridiculous that the "hero" is some guy who blames and blames everyone else because something didn't go to plan as he would of liked. I love zombie movies but this one isn't good at all.

No, you deserve better.

At the time of this review 290 people gave this a 10 star review. 290 people rated this as one of the greatest movies OF ALL TIME.

This is a collection of over played ideas, troupes and clichés. And like discount gas station sushi in a land locked state, this is just a really bad idea.

We get our bad script, with stagnant dialogue and add in worse actors, draped in terrible costuming (new clothes 10 years after the end of the world as we know it) to flail about a plot that I'm sure will have enough holes in it to do loopty loops with the cargo jet of your choosing.

Expectations were low, and they magically limbo'd under it.

Killed the playback at 22:38 and want to bill the production team for lost time.

A Tense and Engaging Post-Apocalyptic Thriller

Silent Zone (2025) emerges as a compelling entry in the action horror genre, delivering a gripping narrative set in a desolate, post-apocalyptic world. The film follows survivors Cassius and Abigail, who have managed to stay alive by sticking together. Their fragile sense of safety is thrown into chaos when they encounter a pregnant woman, forcing them to risk everything on a dangerous journey to find a secure refuge.

The film's strength lies in its ability to maintain tension throughout, effectively conveying the constant danger posed by both the infected and other desperate survivors. The pacing is well-executed, keeping viewers engaged as the characters navigate their perilous environment.

Performances are commendable, with the central characters delivering emotional depth that adds weight to their struggle for survival. The cinematography captures the bleakness of the world they inhabit, enhancing the film's immersive quality. Action sequences are well-crafted, providing excitement without resorting to gratuitous violence.

While 'Silent Zone' doesn't necessarily break new ground in the post-apocalyptic horror subgenre, it delivers enough suspense, emotion, and well-crafted action to make it worth a watch. If you're in the mood for a tense survival thriller with a strong human core, this one is worth checking out.

Overall, 'Silent Zone' is a solid film that effectively combines action and horror elements, making it a worthwhile watch for fans of the genre. I would rate it 8/10.

I feel sorry that this film didn't have a serious budget.

Everything that needs to be in a film of this genre is present in Silent Zone: a simple plot, intense action, hordes of the undead, and a mad scientist.

However: The acting is bad, the dialogue is dull, and the fight scenes are so poorly executed that I actually laughed out loud at times. The director clearly didn't have an armorer on set. The way the actors handle firearms is comical, and the amount of muzzle flash is ridiculously unrealistic. The tension of traveling through the remnants of civilization is nonexistent. The characters don't fit together, they are underdeveloped, and they left no impression on me.

To sum up: The framework of this film could serve as a starting point for writing a script for any movie in this genre. Silent Zone is a failure only because it didn't have enough funding.

Brilliant Movie

Watch this one, it's a really good Zombie flick. It's a mixture of 28 days later, World War Z and Dead City. It starts off a little morbid but make it through that and the rest you will enjoy. The 2 leads are really good together and they have a great chemistry throughout the film. I'm not sure where it was filmed but the locations were spot on. Some of the acting by others is a little ropey especially the mad scientist but for a low budget movie you can get through it, as the two lead actors make up for this. It really is a good watch and it has you rooting for the big guy all the way through. Give it a watch if you love the Zombie survival genres.

Silent Zone: A Refreshing Surprise for Zombie Movie Fans

I love zombie movies-I try to watch as many as I can, and I don't mind if they feature unknown actors. Unfortunately, that also means I'm often disappointed. But Silent Zone turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

I expected another low-budget B-movie filled with cool action scenes, gory zombies, minimal plot, and cliché characters. Instead, I got a film that blends action-horror with genuine drama. The characters are multidimensional, and there were a few plot twists that genuinely surprised me (no spoilers here!).

It's a slow-burn in parts but builds great tension and delivers solid emotional moments alongside the action. If you're a fan of the genre, I definitely recommend giving Silent Zone a chance.

A Visually Stunning and Action-Packed Horror Thriller

'Silent Zone' (2025) is an intense and gripping film that delivers a thrilling mix of horror and action. From the very first scene, it grabs your attention with its striking visuals and atmospheric world-building. The cinematography is excellent, capturing both the eerie stillness of the apocalyptic setting and the chaotic bursts of action. Unlike many horror films that rely solely on suspense, 'Silent Zone' packs in a surprising amount of high-energy sequences, making it feel dynamic and fast-paced.

One of the film's biggest strengths is how it keeps the audience engaged with unexpected twists. Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes a turn, keeping you on edge. The tension builds effectively, and the characters feel grounded enough to make you care about their survival. The mix of horror and adrenaline-fueled action sets this film apart, making it a refreshing entry in the genre.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks. The soundtrack, while effective in heightening the tension, can feel overwhelming at times-some scenes are so loud that they almost take away from the immersion. Additionally, the runtime could have been trimmed down a bit; a slightly tighter edit would have made the film even stronger.

Overall, 'Silent Zone' is a solid horror-action hybrid that fans of the genre will likely enjoy. It's tense, visually engaging, and offers enough twists to keep you invested. If you're looking for a horror film with a bit more excitement than usual, this one is definitely worth watching.

A Solid Survival Thriller That Keeps You Watching

I finally caught Silent Zone, and while it's not the kind of film that's going to redefine the post-apocalyptic horror genre, it does enough right to keep you watching. It's one of those movies that doesn't try to be flashy or groundbreaking but instead leans into the tension and grit of survival-and for the most part, it works.

The setup is pretty straightforward. Years after a brutal outbreak has wiped out most of civilization, survivors Cassius and Abigail have learned how to stay alive by keeping their heads down and trusting no one. Their fragile routine gets thrown off when they encounter a pregnant woman. It's a moral dilemma that forces them to risk their own safety to find her a place of refuge. From that point, it becomes a tense road movie, where the threats come not just from the infected but from other desperate survivors.

What the film does well is build tension. You're never quite sure when something terrible is going to happen, and it creates this constant sense of unease. The infected are genuinely creepy, and the encounters with other survivors-who are often just as dangerous-add a layer of unpredictability. There's always this looming sense that things could go bad at any second, and that definitely kept me invested.

The performances also deserve some credit. The actors bring enough emotional depth to make you care about their struggle. You can feel the fear and the weariness in them, especially during the tougher moral moments when they're deciding whether to trust strangers or keep moving. That said, while the cast is solid, the characters themselves feel a little thin at times. There are moments when I wanted to know more about their pasts or what drives them beyond just survival. The film hints at deeper emotions but doesn't quite dig deep enough to make the characters feel fully fleshed out.

Visually, the movie is decent but nothing to write home about. The wasteland setting is bleak and unforgiving, which suits the story, but there's a kind of generic feel to it. It's the kind of landscape you've seen in plenty of other post-apocalyptic films, and I found myself wishing for just a bit more visual personality. The action sequences are engaging and well-paced, but there were moments when I felt like they leaned too much on standard tropes-running, hiding, close calls. It's effective but also a little predictable.

That kind of sums up the whole film. Silent Zone doesn't do much wrong, but it doesn't really stand out either. It plays it safe, which isn't necessarily bad, but it means the movie is more of a solid watch than an unforgettable experience. I never felt bored, but I also never felt blown away. It's competent, tense, and has some emotional beats that land well, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it could have pushed a little harder, dug a little deeper.

Still, if you're in the mood for a straightforward survival thriller with enough tension to keep you on edge, it's worth a watch. It doesn't try to be more than what it is, and in a way, I respect that. Just go in with tempered expectations, and you'll probably come away satisfied, if not overly impressed.

Trash

Maybe watch if you've never seen a zombie movie before in your life, otherwise don't waste your time. Actually don't waste your time anyway, watch anything else - meditate, plant daisies, pick up trash anything else would be far more rewarding and you won't be looking back in your final years thinking, why, why did I watch this rubbish. This is bland, derivative, predictable, ridiculous (years later and cars, clothes etc look like new) poor acting, totally forgettable. In fact I'm trying to wipe it from my mind right now. If I went to the cinema to see this I think I'd be eating through the seat fabric to get out asap after just a few minutes.

Low-budget cheep post-apocalyptic zombie film

I guess my title says it all. Expect nothing but cheap acting, cheap effects, cheap plot, cheap direction, cheap everything. There is zero quality here, just bad cheap crap from start to finish. A so-called tough guy in a sleeveless military vest takes care of a young girl and teaches her how to survive the post-apocalypse where zombies roam the planet. It's so bad and cheap that you don't care who dies or survives. I'm surprised this movie got any kind of funding because the end product is total garbage. Two stars for the backdrop, shot in Hungary and Romania where you can still find abandoned apartment complexes.

A relatively entertaining zombie flick

Silent Zone is a solid movie. My only gripe is a few slow parts. It's not a high budget movie but they did good for whatever amount they had to work with. Some of the other reviews are unjustly harsh. A 4, 5 or 6 star rating is correct for this one anything higher or lower is unfair. Except for a few slow parts it was quite entertaining and holds your attention. I liked how the zombies were able to "think" to a degree. It gave a nice twist on the zombie genre. The acting is not exceptional by any means but it is passable except for a couple moments of cringy acting. I probably wouldn't watch a second time but I do not regret watching once.

They made it happen

Silent Zone exemplifies how creativity and a talented cast can transcend budget constraints to deliver a compelling cinematic experience. The standout performances of Matt Devere, Luca Papp, and Nikolett Barabas are central to the film's impact. Devere brings an electrifying intensity, Papp offers nuanced vulnerability, and Barabas adds emotional depth, making their characters resonate deeply with the audience.

The filmmakers maximize their resources without compromising on production quality. The focused narrative and strong character development ensure that viewers are engaged from the beginning, while the careful cinematography and immersive sound design enhance the overall storytelling.

This film is a testament to the potential of indie filmmaking, showing that passion and talent behind and in front of the camera can create impactful cinema. "Silent Zone" is a must-watch for those who value films that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Poor

This is just a poor movie. Some ridiculous scenes make you wonder which ones are the zombies. Ground floor campfires and plenty of noise seem to be the order of the day. Stealth/low profile is not on the agenda.

Just so many glaring plot inconsistencies make it a real difficult watch. Now there are some people out there who have no internal barometer of film quality and will just watch any old pulp, then jump on here and pronounce that a pile of faeces is actually a chocolate cake and subsequently give it a ridiculously high score. It makes me wonder if zombies have developed typing skills.

This is one chocolate cake i would suggest not taking a slice of.

A decent movie all around

Silent Zone is a breath of fresh air in the post-apocalyptic genre. While many zombie films rely on excessive gore and jump scares, this one takes a more thoughtful approach, focusing on character depth and emotional stakes. Matt Devere and Luca Papp deliver standout performances, making their journey feel personal and gripping. The cinematography beautifully captures the bleakness of their world, and the tension never lets up. Director Peter Deak does an excellent job balancing action with quieter, reflective moments. Fans of smart, intense survival thrillers should definitely not miss this one.

People are all the same everywhere

In a post apocalyptic world, that's ravaged by zombies or in this case they are called ferals, the dead has taken over. A teen and her guardian fight for survival as they face off with relentless dangers from the living and the dead. Loyalty comes into play as the young teen is growing into maturity. Good zombie flick filled with a good story and tension. I recommend it, the acting was good. The movie was long but I wanted more as I was watching. I didn't want it to end. Overall good premise, from all involved. It's not a great movie, but I was thoroughly satisfied from start to finish. Bring on part two.

Watchable...

While I had indeed never heard about this 2025 zombie movie titled "Silent Zone", then given my love of all things zombie, of course I had to check it out, without the shadow of a doubt.

Writers Viktor Csák and Krisztián Illés put together a fair enough script. Sure, for a zombie movie, then it was somewhat generic. But it still proved entertaining nonetheless, so the movie did what it was supposed to do.

There wasn't a single familiar actor or actress on the cast list, which is actually something I do enjoy whenever I watch a movie. The acting performances in the movie were fair.

The snarling sounds that the infected, or zombies, made was just downright stupid. It just added a very unnecessary comedy element to the infected, and thus taking away from what was supposed to be scary.

Something that definitely was interesting in "Silent Zone" was that writers Viktor Csák and Krisztián Illés actually put in a small boy turning into an infected. That is usually something zombie movies tend to stay well clear of, so that was a nice touch.

However, the zombie make-up and effects left much to be desired. This was ultimately a low budget zombie movie and it showed. I wasn't particularly impressed with the effects in the movie. I've seen worse low budget zombie effects, of course, but the effects in "Silent Zone" were nothing to write home about.

Some of the music in the movie borrowed a bit too heavily from the iconic "28 Days Later" theme.

"Silent Zone", despite of having a title that made zero sense to the contents of the movie, was a watchable zombie movie, but nothing out of the ordinary. There are far better zombie movies out there.

My rating of director Peter Deak's 2025 zombie movie "Silent Zone" lands on a five out of ten stars.

A surprising take on the format

Silent Zone is a refreshing take on the zombie genre. The film's strength lies in its character development, particularly the bond between Cassius and Abigail, portrayed by Matt Devere and Luca Papp. The rest of the cast also did a solid job. Their performances bring depth to the narrative, making the audience genuinely care about their survival. The action sequences are intense, and the plot offers unexpected twists that keep viewers engaged. It's more than just a survival story; it's about hope and human connection in a dystopian world. For fans of post-apocalyptic thrillers, this is a must-watch.

Impressive Low-Budget Thriller with a Strong Atmosphere

Silent Zone (2025) is a surprisingly well-crafted film that makes the most of its limited budget, delivering an immersive and tension-filled apocalyptic experience. Despite its constraints, the film boasts a professional visual style that could easily rival higher-budget productions. The cinematography effectively captures the bleak and haunting atmosphere, keeping the audience engaged throughout.

Matt Devere and Declan Hannigan stand out with compelling performances, adding emotional weight to the story. Their presence helps ground the film, making the mix of action, horror, and drama feel more authentic. However, the balance between these genres is not always seamless-some transitions feel abrupt, and certain dramatic moments slow the pacing more than necessary.

The score is another aspect that, while intense, sometimes feels overbearing. Instead of subtly enhancing the mood, it occasionally overwhelms the scenes, pushing emotions too forcefully. Still, the film maintains a strong post-apocalyptic tone from start to finish, never losing sight of its world-building.

Overall, Silent Zone is an impressive effort that proves great storytelling and atmosphere don't always require a blockbuster budget. With stronger pacing and a bigger production scale, the filmmakers could create something truly outstanding in the future. Definitely worth a watch for fans of gritty, character-driven thrillers.

Do you want a great zombie/virus movie?

This is not it, absolute waste of time.

I had not seen the trailer prior to watching.

From the start of the movie I could tell what kind of movie this was going to be.

Still wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt.

That was my mistake.

Don't let it be yours.

Why o why did I let my wife pic the movie tonight I kept saying to myself.

So this is my review.

Here goes:

Bad acting, terrible story and overall to predictable.

Fx team must of fell asleep on this project.

The zombies/infected took me out of the movie because of how stupid they looked, moved and reacted.

I created this account just to help you.

Please don't waste your time as I did on this trash.

Low budget movies

Creating authentic and grounded low-budget films requires resourceful filmmaking and attention to detail. Use practical effects for realism and choreograph believable action sequences. Focus on casting emotionally compelling actors and writing natural dialogue. Choose authentic locations, detailed props, and motivated lighting for visual consistency. Engage viewers with a strong story, tight pacing, and immersive sound design. Smart budget allocation toward critical aspects, like stunts and effects, can ensure quality despite limitations. Indie films often thrive on creativity over budget constraints!
