I wanted to love this show because I was such a fan of Project Runway and I love Tim Gunn. Heidi Klum was always "okay" but she did bring glamour to the show. This is so bad! The designers are really not very good and bring nothing unique to the fashion design world. It's lacks the excitement of Project Runway and while I still love Tim Gunn, he alone can't save the show. Heidi Klum is terrible in this show. Her acting is soooo bad. Don't waste your time!
This is a highly produced version of Project Runway with more established designers. However, the judges (in particular Naomi Campbell and Nicole Richie) are nearly unbearable to watch. They have caddy discussions during the runway show and try to outdo each other with over-the-top insults. Campbell is unrelatable and comes across as an overconfident snob whereas Richie comes across as a wannabe. Neither of them seem competent. The other two judges seem competent but aren't featured as much as Campbell and Richie.
Although it's great to see Klum and Gunn back together and it's fun for there to be more at stake here than on Project Runway, the show is a little too boring. Hopefully it will improve with time.

I've been a devoted watcher of other fashion designer competitions. I've watched Project Runway and Project Runway All Stars for years. Now I am watching this and Next in Fashion. What I like about Making the Cut is the fact that contestants can return to the fabric store if needed, that there is a seamstress to assist them, and Tim Gunn. I have always been annoyed by the unnaturalness of the one trip to the fabric store for a project. It seems completely bogus to me. That they have a seamstress also seems reasonable. I have missed Tim Gunn so much. It is a pleasure to see him. He really seems thoughtful and concerned with excellent insight. What I hate about this show is split screens focusing on judges faces while a model is walking the runway, listening to judges make snarky comments during the show, and focusing on Heidi and Tim tooling around Paris sightseeing or whatever. I don't care if Heidi wants to dance on stage. I don't want to look at judges instead of the designers' creations, and I sure don't want to hear petty snarky comments from judges. This should not be about the judges. It is supposed to be about the designers. As it is, the designers are bit players and the judges are the show. I only care about the judges because their role is to elevate fashion, not show how they can outshine each other in in attention grabbing. If they want this to be about the judges, then name it How I Became A Devine Name In Fashion Critique. Having said all that, sone of these judges are clearly more concerned about actually functioning as judges instead of personalities. Edit this show! Quit showing split screens and airing snarky comments!
I loved Project Runway and I am happy to see "Klunn" back together again on a platform untainted by H. Weinstein, but I am sorely missing the scrappy PR contestants! The contestants on Making the Cut are established designers who have seamstresses at their disposal in this competition that come in at night and sew, elves and the shoemaker style. I much preferred watching untapped fashion talent pour their blood sweat and tears into their runway look. The show is promising if you are a lover of fashion design, but lacking in depth and character development. As I AM a lover of fashion, and Tim and Heidi (extra star added for their mere presence!), I will continue to watch as an escape from reality, but keeping my expectations low for any real relatability.
I usually skip to the end... Because a lot of it is just not that interesting.
I really can't stand the music. It's horrible. Too sassy and it just never seems to fit with the clothing shown on the runway. Horrible and loud.
