Babysitter blues

Love Pixar, feature films, really like to love most of their feature films, and short films, don't dislike any of them. Their best are masterpieces and even lesser efforts, my least favourite overall being 'Cars 3', are never below mediocre and have at least four good things. Best asset having always been the animation. Whether that is popular opinion is uncertain as most of the post-'Toy Story 3' films have had their fair share of hate.

Have always gotten a lot of enjoyment out of 'The Incredibles', one of those things that gets better with every viewing. It is not among my favourites from Pixar, but it is so exceptionally well made (as always with Pixar) and written (as most of the time with Pixar, the rare exceptions being the character designs in 'The Good Dinosaur', my opinion) apart from a slightly rushed final act. While the sequel was not as good and disappointed a bit in the story and villain departments, a large part of me enjoyed it with the animation, Jack-Jack and Holly Hunter's voice acting being the best assets.

It was great to have a short film centred around two of the best characters from 'The Incredibles', Edna and Jack-Jack. 'Auntie Edna' was colourful, cute and fun enough, but could have been better too considering how good these characters are.

'Auntie Edna' is one of the shortest Pixar shorts, and is one of the very few to feel too short. It is never dull and does engage, but with a longer length (even if it was just five minutes longer) the pace would have slowed down as it did feel manic at times.

Of the characters, Jack-Jack is by far the more interesting and funniest of the two main characters and a great job is done with him, he is also adorable. Edna's fun too and true to character, with a few cool lines, but would have liked her to have a little more to do.

However, the animation is typically terrific. Very colourful with meticulous attention to detail in both the backgrounds and character designs, especially the former. Jack-Jack's powers are particularly well done. The music more than serves its purpose well, with the right amount of energy and charming orchestration.

Regarding the humour, the physical and visual comedy really shine here, more so than the spoken dialogue. Do remember Jack-Jack's literally-laugh-a-second hilarious and very imaginatively animated powers more than anything spoken by Edna, who is still funny, don't get me wrong and that line she says to Bob does raise a big laugh. It is very cute and has a lot of charm, though can understand if anybody says that more emotion and heart was needed, a consequence of the too short length. Brad Bird's voice acting is a large part of why Edna is as memorable a character that she is.

In conclusion, good but not great. 7/10

Filler to a genuinely interesting plot hole

That is a good reason to make a short film: fill a plot hole that is huge but that raises some questions whatsoever. No need of 2 hour long rogue one movies to do so!

Great Disney Animation Short Film

This is a fine enough Disney animation short film for all viewers to watch. The crew did an alright job in creating this Disney animation short film. This Disney animation short film was a great addition to the storyline. The cast selection was alright enough but could have been a whole lot better and stronger for the storyline. They did not exactly fully commit nor connect to the storyline nor to their respective characters. There was not any sign of real kinds of chemistry displayed throughout this entire Disney animation short film between the cast members. I am not sure how and what other viewers think about this Disney animation short film.

Quite funny. Totally love it!

After watching the Incredibles 2, I always wonder how Edna took care of Jack-Jack. Finally, they showed about it. The film is too short. But it's very cute and funny, especially it explains the words Edna said to Bob, "As I learned quite painfully last night". That scene becomes funnier after watching this short film.

All in all, The Incredibles is one of the best animations.

A Very Cute Short

We see what happens when Mr. Incredible leaves Jack-Jack with Edna overnight to figure out how his powers work. It was simply adorable and really funny watching him use his powers. Edna is such a character herself, it was hilarious watching her reaction to Jack-Jack's many powers. It was definitely an enjoyable watch. I suggest watching The Incredibles 2 before watching this short, as it relates to a scene from the feature film. It'll still be entertaining either way though.

Where the heck is the full movie?

How could they only make this a 5 minute spin off? Sometimes great minds miss a great opportunity. This could have been a great movie had they fleshed it out more. I really wonder about Hollywood folk sometimes.

Wholesome family fun

Just a wholesome and hilarious short about what happens when they leave Jack Jack (the Incredibles' baby) with Edna. Both Edna and Jack Jack have such great personalities and its great to see Jack Jack and the full exploration of his powers.

Mode, Median and Mean.

Originally a bonus for the DVD release, "Auntie Edna" is available in the short film section of Disney Plus at the moment and, as I've been running through those, I watched it a few days ago. It's fine, for what it is, but a bit slight.

As he heads to save his family in the events of "The Incredibles 2", Mr Incredible (Craig T Nelson) leaves his youngest son Jack-Jack (Eli Fucile, Maeve Andrews & Nicholas Bird) with his confidant Edna Mode (Brad Bird). Mode takes the opportunity to assess the many and varied powers that Jack-Jack has and tries to create a suit for him.

If I'm honest, I can see why this might have been a scene cut from the movie, rather than a specifically produced addition, it's mildly amusing stuff but trades a lot on hoping you have a pre-existing connection with these characters, particularly Edna, who doesn't have any of the amusing lines she's had in particularly the first film.

The animation is typically Pixar brilliance and there are moments of physical comedy that are good - but it's not worth much to anyone but "Incredibles" completionists.

The worst of the deleted scenes shorts

This is a deleted scene. It is not a story onto itself. Add in that it is Jack Jack Attack again and this is a complete waste of time. Much like the Incredibles 2 there's no creative spark here.
