This movie has great small town and summer vibes. It's clear to see that the cast and crew had fun with it! The music/soundtrack is probably my favorite part. Something about the Space Waves theme and the synth pop sounds are so calming and awesome. I watched this movie for Rudy Pankow, but it's nice to see upcoming talent and support student films. The acting is decent but the script and plot are weak. I don't think the synopsis does a good job at telling what the movie is. The film does not focus on the podcast for most of it but that's alright. I was confused on where they were going with it but I liked it.
When I watched the interview I was just so taken by this, the world we live in today is just so dead, so lost and without purpose but immediately after watching his interview I was so eager to see the truth behind what he was talking about the knowledge he was disseminating and I was not disappointed I got exactly what I was looking for. THIS SEEMS LIKE MORE THAN A MOVIE ITS JUST SO REAL, SO PASSIONATE, SO HONEST, I WISH I HAD SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS WHEN I WAS MUCH YOUNGER, HOW EVER I AM GLAD I RAN INTO THIS BECAUSE IT JUST IGNITED A FIRE WITHIN THAN MAN I LOVE IT ALREADY. THIS DREW SOME EMOTIONS OUT OF ME AND I'M NOT EVEN AN EMOTIONAL GUY!

...and brought the 80s back. What a fun way to relive a moment in time, just as if it was yesterday. You nailed every cliche that made back in the day, the day.
Movie writing requires a plot. This movie did not incorporate a plot in the vapid and disconnected writing.
Unsure as to the "80s" motif other than the lead character wearing a headband like Olivia Newton-John.
The "conflict" was manufactured and disjointed. (As well as film school awkward prescriptive dialog) Nobody will ever understand what the "Space Waves Podcast" was about, nor will anyone understand why this was brought to the screen.
Just play the bagel scene over and over to appreciate the abysmal story telling of this futile attempt at agro 80s humor.
Yawnfest.

A fading bromance derails a budding romance in "Space Waves," a gentle comedy-drama about two best friends' quest to become the #1 rated podcast on iTunes. An iconic microwave tower, a cherry red Mustang, and a brainless skateboarding video provide the eye candy for this surprisingly good film.
Shot entirely on location in rural Northern California, the story plays out so naturally that I only noticed in retrospect that there was no sex, violence or swearing in the film. Didn't miss it.
Writer-director Spencer Whiteout's semi-autobiographical script is a genuinely funny, dramatic, romantic, G-rated, coming-of-age story of teenage best friends Joey (Rudy Pankow) and Marvin (Andrew Gabriel), Marvin's neglected girlfriend Sawyer (Andie Mueller), and the hilarious, scene-stealing Duke Skylander (Tyson Pestner) who is making a brainless, skateboarding movie.
