When i heard about the Office being remade i was a 100% sure that they were going to ruin it ( The trailer did not help).
The script writing is actually good in my opinion , They have done a great job of taking inspiration from NBC's office and adapting it to the Indian scenario . Some of the casting and acting is really good , but the rest unfortunately , not so much . Here are the main things that i felt actually ruined this remake :-
1. Michael Scott - The guy playing him is a good actor , no doubt , but he cannot pull Michael Scott . This makes soo many of his moments downright cringey , and not the funny cringe that NBCs office had , just cringe.
2. Jim and Pam - Again both are doing a great job, but just cant live up to the high expectations . Jim does not feel like Jim , and there seem to be a very forced chemistry between Jim and Pam
So it boils down to this , if you haven't seen the original Office , you might actually like this show but if you have , you may not have a very good experience.

There is zero dialogue delivery. Amit, the Jim doppelgänger has zero expressions on his face unlike John Krasinski. Then there is a mix of politics of putting nationalism, politics and hidutva that the Dwight character plays... and this haryanvi character on Pam's fiancé, Parmeet... is like a gunda and his behaviour would not even survive in any office place.
And then there is a confusing culture that is incorporated in the show, its a mix of american and indian.
One can relate to this, because they have the US show... otherwise it is a pretty hopeless

It's true that it would have been better if the teleplays were original instead of being directly adapted. But nevertheless, this is a wonderful adaptation. Most of the people who are criticizing are the ones who had made up their mind about the show right when the first poster came out. They did not want The Office to be remade in India, it's as simple as that. And the chances of them coming around are very slim. The performances are mostly superb, and TP Mishra's character especially, has not just been very well adapted in an Indian context by the writers, but has also been played with perfection by Gopal Dutt. I'm a big fan of the US version and have seen the whole show innumerable times, have seen all the bloopers, deleted scenes, and have even read the scripts of many of the episodes. Naturally, I was extremely looking forward to this adaptation, and I wasn't least bit disappointed. I have been a part of many online communities of The Office, and these communities always made me feel like The Office fans are some of the most positive, empathetic, and encouraging people I had ever seen. But the reaction to the adaptation completely changed my mind. And finally, to all the snobs who have been critiquing the show without even watching, and to those who are asking Hotstar to stop the show from airing, I just want to leave you with a question, "Why are you the way that you are? I hate so much about the things that you choose to be."
While this is a re-make, I believe that in later part of the series... episode 7,8 onwards, there is considerable improvement in the series.
In the dialogue quality, in acting, and directing
There is quite a good character development. Earlier I had given it 3 stars... now changing to 8 stars.
So far watched 13 episodes... looking forward to more.

A lot of people are offended that they copied the "original" version and they are citing Michael Scott's character. The actual original was the British version by Ricky Gervais and American writers faced the exact same hate when they were writing season 1 of the US version. It all turned out well in the end.
Writing in this Indian version remains faithful to the American one with some minor changes. The acting is GOOD, especially Gopal Datt! I don't know why anyone would say it's horrible.
Is it as good? No. Is it as bad as the rating makes it look? No!
Overall it deserves a better rating than the 3.5 it has now. Give it a chance. If you haven't watched the American one, you will likely get some chuckles out of it. If you have, It will at least not make you cringe. It's decent enough.
