China... they do some things very good (like food, trains and building skyscrapers), but one thing they suck at, is copying things... This is one of those examples.
Where Zootopia is a 10/10 animation movie, this is only a 4/10. A poor attempt, with inferior animation, bad voice acting, bad 'jokes' and a predictable plot. Maybe they should stick to food, or just hire a better EVERYTHING next time they think about making a movie.

Yeah, I expected to be disappointed but I somehow wasn't. The story itself was okay, the film had comedic elements, and the background & environment looked like what you'd see in a top-tier Pixar, Disney, or Blue Sky Studios film. It was a nice film, at least for me, even though it slightly resembled Zootopia. And for a Chinese-French animated film, it was actually good!
I don't think the film is perfect though, there were some things in the film that just didn't sit right with me. Not everything was bad though, but something definitely pissed me off regarding the film's animation. The animation itself was pretty fine, it was smooth, sometimes it would look jagged but overall it was fine. But the complete lack of motion blurring made me so mad. There were SO MANY scenes that just LACKED MOTION BLUR. Sure, it wasn't a huge deal, but it made me angry because the scenes looked super ugly when there were no motion blurring in the shots.
Every other animated film only had a few scenes with no motion blur, but like 75% (probably inaccurate) of this entire film didn't have motion blur. It just looked so ugly and raw! But other than that, I enjoyed the film.

Despite some Russian and Chinese references, this is a good and easy movie for all ages. While the start of the movie wasnt very promising, it does get better. It has some deep message about climate change, some adult jokes, great soundtrack and super realistic animation. I would give it 7/10, but giving 10 because of low other reviews.
My children were entertained and I wasnt bored most of the movie. Thats enough.

I didn't think American liberal activists could be responsible for ruining a China/France production.
This started off so well, then started to show signs of social agenda indoctrination and messages, instead of a decent plot. Ridiculously blaming global warming for the extinction of mammoths, is the whole movie.
Hopefully, the next one they create will have writers for ideas, not activists.

I can understand WHY it gets compared to Zootopia - it's in the same world, definitely. But why can't there be more than one bunny and more than one 'cool' lead character - the joke with the cat is he's not as good as he thinks he is in the beginning, but he sure redeems himself by the end!
The animal animation was a LEETLE clunky but the backgrounds are gorgeous. They're worth watching the movie for. I loved the city, the machinery, the cars and the spheres in the Ecodome towards the end of the film, the details of the plants and flowers, whoever did the backgrounds put every bit of him/herself into it and the results really show. They're lovely!
The characters are a LEETLE 2-D but hey - it's a kid's movie. It's not trying to be sophisticated like Zootopia, it's trying to be fun and it really succeeds. The flow of the plot could have been pulled together somewhat but all the parts were there. I loved the snake/dragon, but I wish they'd used him more. Maybe as an ongoing character with the blue cat and Hector the Rat? But that's a sorta minor thing - I could've happily watched everyday life in the city and in the world for 90 minutes and not had any other plot at all, if it had been an openworld video game I'd just happily live within it all. THAT'S where this film scores - its world is gorgeous.
Y'know - if there was a choice between making a Zootopia sequel or a Spycies sequel, I'd make a Spycies 2 movie like an old-fashioned, hard-boiled-detective movie starring the cat and the rabbit, with Hector doing the Q-from-James-Bond thing with all the gadgets. Just to give the background team free rein to let the cat explore every inch of that lovely city, and the ecospheres. Did I enjoy it? Plot clunkinesses aside, yes, every moment of it and I was just watching it by myself.
Don't compare it to anything. Take it for what it is, its own movie, as much a 'rip off' of Zootopia as The Mandalorian is a 'rip off' of Star Wars. They're both set in pre-created worlds, yet they're both their own beings. You'll be glad you saw this world, I know I was.
