Great First Effort

This is a really nice first film from Mark Wiley! It is an enjoyable film - funny and cute! Look for some awesome character actors! Mark's humor and passion comes through!!

quirky characters, romance, mob, Kung Fu

It had a whole bunch of quirky characters, a romantic none stereotypical relationship, Italian mobsters, and kick-a kung-fu fighting.

Overall it was enjoyable . If you like any of the above .... go see it then....you might enjoy it.

Original idea very refreshing!

This movie is very original and has a great deal of humour, with amazing martial arts action scenes. Worth seeing again!

Brilliant old school Kung fu meets the Mob

Back in the day New York city had two fascinating cultural phenomenon that captured the public imagination, one was Kung Fu culture brought by cats like Bruce Lee to America. The other was the new york city mob.

In Made in Chinatown you will see the intersection of these two worlds in a hilarious and touching cross over of a classic rock em sock em kungfu Flic paired with an off the wall mob story which ties together all of the major crime families active in the 70s and 80s.

If you dig Kung fu and mob comedy, you can't miss this.

I purchased a copy when it was released and have already watched it with my family several times.

Better than I expected

Tbh I really need more of Lawrence's fabulously flamboyant kung fu. And though the acting is horrendous, the writing does make up for it. Worth a watch.

The story "Made in Chinatown" was in part inspired by writer Mark V. Wiley's love of elements in four films: Nos Calcanhares da Máfia (1984), Os Aventureiros do Bairro Proibido (1986), Um Novato na Máfia (1990), and Beija-Me, Bofe (1997). This was merged with his obsession with the Shaw Bros. classic '80s kung-fu flicks, featuring Meng Lo and Feng Lu.
