They filmed in County Kildare, Ireland, including the military base there, which rarely grants access (one of the last films to be shot there was Coração Valente (1995)). They also filmed in Dublin, Ireland.
Director David Freyne originally planned to make this film his first feature (then titled "Beards") but the financing didn't happen in time, and he moved on to shoot Os Curados (2017) first, and then came back to "Dating Amber" when the financing was in place.
