I was shocked to learn this is a legitimate sequel

Browsing Netflix I noticed a bank robbery film with a title similar to my favorite in the genre, Inside Man. I thought that it was a cheap trick to click-bait the name of a more famous film to draw attention, but I proceeded to give it a try anyways. To my disbelief, Inside Man: Most Wanted is the legitimate follow-up to Spike Lee's 2006 crime drama. My awe was compounded further by the vast difference in budget between the two films, which presents in spades with the CGI and hired talent of the latest installment. The story had enough going on that you couldn't guess exactly what the outcome was after 15 minutes, but not enough to overshadow its beaten tropes and TV crime drama feel.

Terrible acting

The actors on the movie look like they feel the camera in front of them filming. Nothing to say more. The only reason giving a 5 star rating is for the attempt, but the movie itslef doesn't give you the feeling of even an average movie at all.

Inside man is not a copy of money heist

Remember that inside man was first made on 2006, if you watch the first movie, you can see how similar it is to money heist, don't get me wrong I love money heist, but please do your research before you look like an idiot.

Most Boring!!!

This movie has no reason to exist. Exact same twist, horribly written, not well directed, and the movie looks bad. Flat lighting, bad color, and the acting is not good. You'd think with all the powerful software out there today, they could've tried to make the movie look good in post, but no it just looks flat and bland. Someone doesn't know what they're doing. Just watch the original with great stars and acting. No reason to watch a cheap remake with no name actors and bad cinematography and even worse finishing touches. This is lazy bad filmmaking from A to Z. And work on the scripts 1440. You can do better than this, all you have to do is try just a bit harder!

Not worth it

This felt like a lifetime movie. Writing was horrible and one dimensional, music/score was bad, lighting was bad, directing couldve been better.

the acting was also for the most part horrible with the exception of the girl from better call saul. accents for several of the actors were all over the place.

the original was leagues better than this one. they tried to tie it in as much as possible to the original but it just felt awkward.

you can easily tell it was a direct to dvd kind of movie. if you're really bored one night or on a plane with nothing to do it wont hurt to watch this but i wouldnt go out of my way to watch it

Horrible

Tramples over the grave of the original movie then violates it's corpse.

RIP Inside Man.

Slow Burn Initially But Final Thirty Minutes Offer Twists & Turns

Apparently I am better off not to have seen the 2006 Spike Lee original for comparisons sake, so that I did not know where this plot was going. Initially, a slow burn with confusing and convoluted plot elements, but in the final 30 minutes, things picked up considerably with a number of twists and turns that I thought were pretty clever.

Overall, the final parts of the movie made it a fairly decent watch for me, although I still was confused about a few of the plot machinations After the initial credits, there's a scene that helps explain it even more, so I'd say look for that.

At least I didn't have to pay admission.

There's a scene towards the end of "The Producers" where Zero Mostel says: I was so careful... I picked the wrong play, the wrong director, the wrong cast... where did I go right?"

That's not the case here. Bad script, improbable plot, bad acting. Ameen appears to be trying to do a poor cross of Will Smith and Eddie Murphy.

The best part of the movie was not having to pay admission

Netflix flick

This is an actual sequel to the 2006 Spike Lee movie Inside Man straight to Netflix. A group of Euro-robbers take hostages at the Federal Reserve in New York City led by a woman calling herself "Most Wanted". The FBI takes charge and Dr. Brynn Stewart (Rhea Seehorn) is assigned to lead. Smooth-talking NYPD hostage negotiator Remy Darbonne (Aml Ameen) joins the team. The robbers open up an unused part of the vault to find their intended target, Nazi gold.

This is mostly fine as a bank robbery capper. I like Seehorn and Ameen. They have good energy together. The robbers have interesting charisma especially the big guy and tiny girl. I don't really understand the Nazi gold aspect. Gold is gold and they're melting it anyways. I guess it's inferring that these are Nazis getting their gold back but Nazis stealing other people's gold would be just as good. It's a fine B-level movie which fits perfectly with having a quiet Netflix night.

A total money heist duplicate.

But I wasn't bored watching it. I enjoyed it, fortunately I didn't spend a nickel in the theater to see it.

It's pretty sad that we make a movie pay homage to the original character and make it an all women cast to appeal to the generation of today destroy the classic

Really?..

Inside man was an absolute masterpiece, I cannot believe how this is even possible, to allow someone to ruin one of the best movies ever...How can you even call this a sequel?.. :((( is everything for sale? I have watched inside man so many times.. Directing, cast, story, everything was incredible. I keep wondering what Spike Lee felt when this 'thing' came out. Stunts like this one are the reason why Hollywood is sinking into permanent oblivion.. Again, so sad, it's unbelievable that someone was even allowed to ruin a masterpiece. It's like letting Hitler make a sequel to Michael Angelo's painting in the Sistine Chapel... :(

So bad, so lame

This remake is so bad, don't bother. Did no-one tell the main black actor he was not on a reality TV show. I just hope I never stumble upon him again! I gave it a 4 just because the cinematics were well done.

A mediocre film that entertains....

6.4/10 (Would Recommend)

This movie was recently added to Netflix so I checked out the preview for the film and it peaked my interest. I didn't realize going into it that it was a sequel to the 2006 film of the same name. With that I had no prior standard for how this film should be.

The acting is simple, and at a mediocre standard. I liked Aml Ameen's energy throughout. If it wasn't for his constant charisma I think I would've gotten bored. The other actors are alright, but are either too rigid, or are closed off emotionally because of the masks.

The way the film is shot and cut is only satisfying once everything has concluded. Throughout I didn't like the constant close-ups, and at times, quick cuts, but they work out to have kept me guessing throughout the film when I thought I knew what was happening.

Overall, this is isn't an overstimulating film, but it still entertains. If you never watched the first film I think you'll enjoy it, but apparently it's a trash film if you have seen the original. I liked it enough that I would watch it again just for the clandestine feeling it gives and the outcome that ensues.

That's it for now. Thanks for taking time to read my review. Happy watching and enjoy the show!

Why?

Takes the saying "Sequels are never as good as the original" to new heights.....or should I say new lows. The two mains cops are fine, everything else is just awful.

Pretty terrible no need to watch

Overall pretty terrible movie. One of those movies that leaves you feeling bad about the time wasted watching it. Watched it on Netflix of course and wife had gone to bed half way through. The plot is too much of a repeat of the first robbery. Is it going to work second time around? Hard to believe. You're supposed to have sympathy for the most wanted but you don't nor do you ever worry about her brother. How ridiculous to think that the nazi gold (looted from German Jews) was stored in its original crates just like when it was found in a barn during the war. To sum up, there's absolutely no reason to watch this movie.

why remake a movie, only worse?

So, this movie is practically a top to bottom remake of a 2006 Denzel and Owen film of the same name, minus the "Most Wanted" bit. Bank robbers come in, seemingly trap themselves inside a no-escape situation, then pull off some ingenious plan that's only revealed to the audience in the last act. Along the way you're meant to empathize with at least some of the robbers so that you're rooting for them to get away, and so is the main police/FBI character because he's dealing with completely unsympathetic bureaucrats and powerful one percenters that he/she hates and so does the audience.

The problem, apart from the fact that this has already been done in a better version, is that because they reveal the connection to the previous film right in the opening scenes (and the title), you already know what's going to happen by the end. They don't change anything significant, really. I watched the movie with a friend, and by the half way point when they revealed a key plot element we both guessed the twist and how it was going to happen. And, apart from a couple of minor details, we were spot on. Which means, as far as I'm concerned, that actual law enforcement types who do this for a living would have seen some element of this coming from a mile away.

The whole thrill of a movie like this is that turn. To work, it has to be subtly hinted at in ways that you overlook early on but can look back at later, and it has to come as a surprise. It's very much like a magic act. If they hide too many details it feels like they're cheating, and if they don't surprise you with the reveal you lose that sense of wonder, which is the whole point of the movie.

Anyway, despite the underwhelming finale, the main characters were reasonably charismatic and entertaining to watch. And it's on Netflix, so if you have the streaming service you don't have to pay anything extra to see it. So I suppose if you find yourself needing to kill an hour or two it's a reasonably inoffensive way to while away the time, provided you've got nothing else better to do.
