After approving production of this full length movie based on Jean Cocteau's stage play in 2018, the Jean Cocteau Foundation blocked its release simply because Pedro Almodóvar expressed an interest to adapt the play into a 30 minute short. Almodóvar's short was released 3 years later as La Voz Humana (2021) starring Tilda Swinton.
