Heer en Meester: The Film secures a solid 8/10 from me, standing as a commendable continuation of the beloved series. While the film offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience, particularly for fans of the series, it shines brightest when viewed as a follow-up to the TV show.

The film succeeds in capturing the charm and wit that made the series popular. It brings back the familiar characters and settings, providing a sense of continuity that fans will appreciate. The storyline in the film is well-crafted, offering enough intrigue and development to keep viewers engaged throughout.

However, it's worth noting that having watched the series enhances the overall experience of the film. The background and character development from the series add depth to the film's plot and make the viewing experience more fulfilling. For those who are new to Heer en Meester, the film is still enjoyable, but the context provided by the series definitely enriches the story.

While I personally prefer the series for its extended narrative and character exploration, the film does an excellent job of condensing the essence of Heer en Meester into a feature-length format. It's a testament to the strength of the original material and the filmmakers' understanding of what made the series so engaging.

This is a sort of poor man's mix of James Bond, the Saint and Bruce Wayne. Valentijn Bentinck is a rich man, who, while an orphan since birth, still got taken in and raised by a wealthy industrialist, who left him his business empire. (Right there from the start you realize there's something fishy). So yes, the plot doesn't rise above the 9-12 year old boyhood level: It's all quite predictable.

Having never seen the TV-series nor was I burdened with even a morsel of knowledge about it, I had to judge this as a stand alone. It's not good. It's even bad. Still giving it a 3 for not-bad production values, even if the special effects are very so-so. Apparently they wasted a lot of money filming in Turin, Italy. Worst fight scenes everrrrrr.

I am sad to have just seen the end to this tale and these characters! If you haven't watched the two seasons of TV shows, I highly recommend you do. We don't have enough engaging intrigue-type shows like this, that don't include gratuitous angst and violence. There is thievery and trickery, seldom murders, and we help get to the bottom of them. The action scenes take you back to classic movies, they can be tongue in cheek, but I love that. There are occasional fight scenes that are cool, but don't go on forever like American shows make them.

I applaud all those who put together this show, including the actors! I love every one of the regular characters. Everyone wants a Leo. Most of us have felt like a Frensdorf. The ladies are strong, the men are vulnerable... oh, and the scenery is a great bonus!

Without spoiling, I'll say we get the answer Valentijn has been seeking. He manages to work with all the justice department characters to foil the biggest challenge yet. There is some natural anti-climactic feel when you're done, of course... the show has ended. As another reviewer said, this one is darker (the menace AND the lighting!) than any previous episode. All the regulars are in this finale, which is great. We don't get much epilogue, which is fine with me.

If you haven't watched the show, this movie may not be much fun for you because it doesn't backtrack to tell you why he's doing what he's doing. But for those who have watched the show through two seasons, it's an obvious can't-miss. Thank you for making this one last romp! We will miss you.

Poor attempt to imitate James Bond. Special effects like B-movies back in the sixties; dialogues like they are taken of the Teletubbies-series and a very skinny scenario. The movie confuses whether it is a comedy or a serious action movie.

This is really the movie of the TV series (20 parts) it's very tongue in cheek, sort of a slightly comedic rip off of the saint series. Some episode are better than others, I found this film version slighty "darker" than the series.
