A thought-provoking and powerful story about the relationship between a young boy and a tiger cub. Their special bond represents something so important in the world today that the film is not only extremely engaging but educational and reflective. This story encourages us to protect the relationship between man and animal, and not create boundaries, and barriers, but to co-exist in harmony with nature and animals.
'The Tiger's Nest' is visually stunning, taking us on a journey through the mysterious and fascinating land of Nepal and the Himalayas, capturing landscapes and cultures that have rarely been seen in cinema before. The cinematography is intelligent and immersive - imbuing empathy and feeling into every moment.
This film is magical and mystical, leaving us with a bitter-sweet reminder of the beauty, but also the fragility of the natural world, and how we must protect it at all costs.

The acting was great - especially the boys whose relationship with the tiger seemed heartfelt, genuine, and natural. Even the tiger could act! Its intelligence was impressive and its friendship with the boy touched me. It reminded me how beautiful Tigers are, and how devasting it is that they are critically endangered. Apart from that, I think this is a great family film that would keep children engaged from start to finish. I also loved learning about the people and traditions of Nepal and the kingdom of Mustang. The film made me want to get on the flight to Nepal that's for sure...10/10 would recommend it to anyone who loves avdenture.
There's this very naive kind of slow feel to the movie that almost made me turn it off a couple of times, but I'm glad I persevered. Bear with me, and I'll tell you why.
The best actor in the movie, by far, was the tiger lol. No kidding, he/she truly stole the show! That aside, the whole production felt a little amateur... though I don't know if that's the feel they were going with. The visuals were stunning, the acting not so much. The dialogues feel a bit contrived, the characters are all 2-dimensional. The events are a bit disconnected too with not enough of filling in the holes.
That said, the tiger stole my heart, the naivity of the performance was heart-warming, the landscapes were stunning, and the portrayal of the people refreshing, so, for me, a movie worth watching.

I shan't talk about the actors and the acting because to tell you the honest truth, the actors do not seem to be professional (and some not to be actors at all...but extras roped in) so its pretty dim in that department. However! I have a tendency to think that it gave the film some raw state procedure that helped to give it credence! The story is very simply told - it is after all a just, leave here and arrive there; whilst catching up with old friends and meeting new ones as you hitchhike to a Temple. The only the "but" to the tale is there is a Tiger cub as your sidekick that you rescued from poachers and. They are extremely devoid of anything needed to make a good villain.
Its a slow paced film but its just had that little something to it that kept me watching it; rather than switching it off. I hadn't been expecting much of it to start with so it was a sneaky surprise for me. I absolutely did notice the blatant mistakes in replacing the Tiger cubs used throughout the film. The small ones looked very similar (unless you know how to read the different stripes all Tigers have; none had the same pattern markings) but the last one used was nearly twice the size in the space of a few days to a weeks length of time.

A very nice happy ending story based on a fascinating legend. Expertly written (Rupert Thomson and Hugh Hudson) and well directed (Brando Quilici). Unforgettable characters and a bunch of perfect actors for each role. Very nice music and photography as well. Fantastic places/landscapes. I think it was not that easy to shot this film with a baby tiger as a main actress on locations. The best sequence in on Tibet mountains and the end...I find it moving and teaching, many points of reflecting. An important co-production distributed worldwide with different titles. Soon on TV also? It is supported by WWF. Family film. Highly recommended.
