Disney+, Pathe, Chapter 2 Team on ‘Three Musketeers’ Spinoff Series, ‘Milady Origins,’ ‘Black Musketeer’ (Exclusive)

Pathé’s Aude Albano and Dimitri Rassam’s Chapter 2, a Mediawan company, are teaming up with Disney+ on the development of two returning series expanding on their “Three Musketeers” franchise.

The two production banners, together with Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte’s Fargo Films, are in advanced development of both shows, “Milady Origins” and “Black Musketeer.”

These will be spin offs of Pathé and Chapter 2’s two-part adventure epic saga penned by de la Patellière and Delaporte, based on Alexandre Dumas’s masterpiece. The two films, “The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” and “The Three Musketeers – Milady,” shot entirely on location in France with a global budget of 80 million. Both movies were teased by Pathé with an impressive promo at Cannes. They’re slated for a release in theaters next year; the first part in April and the second in December.

TF1 Group Nabs ‘I Killed My Husband,’ ‘Marion,’ ‘Elle’s Kitchen’ From Hago (Exclusive)

In the run up to MipTV, TF1 Group has acquired a trio of premium original French series, “I Killed My Husband,” “Marion” and “Elle’s Kitchen” for second-window rights from Paris-based TV sales banner Have A Good One (Hago).”

“I Killed My Husband,” which is produced by Henri Debeurme’s Next Episode with Hago, stars Erika Sainte (“Les Rivières Pourpres”) as a woman who’s been wrongly accused of murdering her husband. The series premiered on 13eme Rue in November and played at La Rochelle Fiction Festival.

“Marion,” which was co-produced by Mathieu Ageron at Nolita and Jacques Kluger at Darklight, is

based on the best-selling Edwige Marion novels written by Danielle Thiéry. The series follows Marion, the newly appointed divisional commissioner of the railway brigade at Gare du Nord who investigates the darkest criminal cases with her own style while raising her adopted daughter.

Mediawan-Owned Storia Television Teams With French Broadcaster on Period Family Saga (Exclusive)

Mediawan-owned Storia Television is teaming up with French public broadcaster France Televisions on “Et la montagne fleurira,” an ambitious period drama which starts to shoot today, May 19, on the French Riviera.

Eléonore Faucher, whose feature debut “A Common Thread” won Cannes’ Critics’ Week in 2004, wrote and directs the series. Faucher most recently helmed the crime mystery “La Maladroite” with Isabelle Carré (“De Gaulle”) and Émilie Dequenne (“Love Affair(s)).”

Based on Françoise Bourdon’s novel “La Mas des Tilleuls,” the series is a six-part family saga set in 1837 in Provence and follows a man, Jean-Baptiste, who was banned from this childhood home by his father after being wrongfully accused of having abused his step mother, Seraphine. Jean-Baptiste runs away to live with his aunt and eventually become a merchant of rare flowers and finds love with Lila. ‘Kung Fury 2’ Co-Producer Maze Pictures Boards Russian Comedy Spy Series ‘Pawns’ (Exclusive)

Germany’s Maze Pictures has boarded Moscow-based Metrafilm’s Kgb comedy series “Pawns,” from writers Michael and Lily Idov, who penned the 2018 Cannes competition screener “Leto.”

The company, which has offices in Munich, Berlin and Lucerne, Switzerland, is also developing a miniseries based on “Ghosts of Berlin,” a book of supernatural stories by filmmaker Rudolf Herzog (son of Werner Herzog), and the tentatively titled mystery series “Parallels.”

On the film front, Maze Pictures is co-producing David Sandberg’s upcoming action-comedy “Kung Fury 2,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Fassbender. It also co-produced Abel Ferrara’s “Siberia,” headlining Willem Dafoe, which premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.

“Pawns” is a Russian-German co-production between Maze Pictures, Metrafilm and Latvia’s Tasse Film.

The series has already secured development support from German regional funder Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the project is set to shoot primarily in Riga and to a lesser extent in Berlin and Moscow.

The Owners Trailer Traps Maisie Williams in a House of Nightmares

Rlje Films has revealed a trailer for The Owners. The studio picked up the rights to the upcoming thriller earlier this year, which is the feature directorial debut of Julius Berg. It sees Maisie Williams in one of her first major starring roles since Game of Thrones ended. It is competing with The New Mutants in that regard, with the X-Men spin-off currently set to arrive in August. Though there is a good chance it will be delayed yet again. Either way, as we can see from this trailer, Williams will be in for a bloody and brutal journey when this movie arrives.

“Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams has been cast in Julius Berg’s ’90s thriller “The Owners,” it was announced Friday.

Berg and Matthieu Gompel wrote the screenplay based on the comic book from artist Hermann Huppen and written by Yves H. Alain de la Mata at UK-based Bluelight is producing, while Xyz Films is executive producing.

Xyz is handling North American sales, while Versatile handles international sales at Berlin’s Efm. The film will shoot this spring.

Maisie Williams is set to star in Julius Berg’s 1990s-set thriller The Owners revolving around the burglary of an isolated house by a group of young delinquents that goes badly wrong when the elderly inhabitants turn the tables on the intruders.

The screenplay, written by Berg and Matthieu Gompel, is based on the comic book Une Nuit De Pleine Lune by Belgian artist Hermann and writer Yves H.

The film is produced by Alain de la Mata at UK-based Bluelight, and executive produced by Xyz Films.
