When should we let go of the past? Now this movie may not be the one to watch if you think this is what it deals with! This is more about people trying to cover stuff up. Showing us the ugly side of people, who try to avoid certain things. Yes war is bad and bad stuff happen. But certain individuals relish in those situations and make things worse. Is Murer one of these individuals or just another guy, whom some want to take revenge on? As in him representing all Germans in a way.
There will be testimony after testimony ... some ridiculous questions and a lot of tough things to go through ... for the viewer but more importantly, those who had to endure those things in the first place. No one can fully understand what they lived with, how they coped with it .. the constant fear, the conditions and the torture (even if sometimes "only" psychological) ... only those who were there know. But do they remember everything correctly? The movie does try to give you some room to interpret and figure or feel for yourself ... there is drama and there is pain ... is there also a resolution/conclusion for the victims?

Murer is a very intense movie. the movies tone is very thrilling throughout the entirety of the movie. Its over 2 hours long but I didnt really feel its length because it was very well paced. It focused primeraly around the case of Murer and a few side stories or backgrounds would have been nice to see. The movie also tried to be a bit artistic at some times, with its camera shots, sometimes they worked wonderfully, sometimes they didnt.
The biggest positiv of the movie was its acting. Some phenomenal performances were in this movie and quite believable, as if the people you see were the real deal, rarely have I seen a movie who could achieve such a task.
The music department lacked a bit. The movie was pretty quiet, but that somewhat added to the tention, but I would have enjoyed more emotional, music driven scenes within the movie.
So overall I would recommend the movie. It has a bit of a left leaning political point of view but the historical aspects of the movie makes it very interesting to say the least.

- Erros de gravaçãoIn the end scene, Franz Murer returns home, right at the beginning of the closing credits, a red Massey-Ferguson 1964 (or later) square bonnet tractor drives down the road. The trial took place in 1963 when MF tractors' bonnets were still round in the edges.
