Stumbling upon the 2017 South Korean comedy drama "Abbaneun Ddal" (aka "Daddy You, Daughter Me"), of course I had to sit down and watch it, on the fact that it was an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen. Now, I had never heard about this movie from writers Jo Seong-woo and Choi Yoo-mi, but that hardly was an issue.
The storyline in "Abbaneun Ddal" was fair enough. I mean, the concept of a parent and a child isn't exactly new in the history of movies, so director Hyung Hyup Kim didn't revolutionize the industry with this movie. I will say that the story was adequate, although running at 1 hour and 55 minutes it felt sluggish and prolonged. The story wasn't as funny as I had initially expected it to be either, so it felt like director Hyung Hyup Kim was dropping the ball.
The acting performances in the movie were good, and lead actor Je-Mun Yun and lead actress Jung So-Min definitely carried the movie quite well.
"Abbaneun Ddal" is apparently a remake of a 2007 movie titled "Papa to musume no 7-kakan", a movie that I have not seen, so I can't tell you how true "Abbaneun Ddal" is to the source material.
There are better movies out there with the theme of two people switching bodies, and "Abbaneun Ddal" ultimately falls into a slump and becomes a rather mundane and generic one of its kind. It was somewhat of a struggle to sit through the movie the first time around, and this is not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.
My rating of "Abbaneun Ddal" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for feel good things, like this movie. You can argue that the idea for this movie has been done before, body swapping, this isn't nothing new nor is it the best in its genre but I still enjoyed watching this movie. It doesn't try to hard to be something it isn't, to me it was hilarious when needed and it had its heartfelt, heartwarming moments. The plot has depth.
For my final thoughts I would just like to compact everything said and just say, movie funny, movie make me smile, movie make me forget about sad miserable day.
This movie gave me joy. If you've read all the way to this point then please give this movie a chance. Thank you.

Body switching movies are always funny. Freaky Friday and Big are some ot the best comedies. This one is a bit less laugh a minute type and more meaningful in it's message about appreciating the difficulties of the other person. It ain't easy to study and take tests. And working in a company ain't has lots of troubles. It isn't too serious though, there still are some good laughs not corny ones but unexpected ones. The 2 actors are real pros. Jung So Min as the daughter. Has the right expressions without overdoing it, very sweet and endearing. Yoon Je Moon as the father is very good too.
Worth a watch.
