However, the director has now clarified that he will be directing two different films with these two heroines in the lead. Arivazhagan tweeted, "I want to make it clear the buzz around here that the script what I made for #Nayanthara is completely a psychological thriller & not the script I spoke for #ManjuWarrier earlier which was a family thriller." While Manju Warrier will be playing the lead role in a family thriller, Nayanthara will be seen as the heroine in a psychological thriller. Interestingly, both are heroine-centric projects. Both the actors – Manju Warrier and Nayanthara – have been doing well by bagging some prestigious projects which are centred on the female protagonist. Interestingly, Manju Warrier will be making her debut in the Tamil film industry with the Arivazhagan directorial. Arivazhagan is a former assistant of ace filmmaker Shankar. He is noted for helming movies like Eeram, Vallinam, Aarathu Sinam (remake of Memories) and last year’s super hit movie Kuttram 23. Manju Warrier is currently busy with Aami, in which she plays the prolific writer Kamala Suraiyya, Poomaram and Odiyan. She is expected to join the sets of Mohanlal starrer Odiyan which is reaching the final stages of shooting. The talented actor also has the Va Shrikumar directorial, a bilingual to be made in Malayalam as well as Tamil. On the other hand, Nayan has a couple of Tamil and Telugu films including Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy with Chiranjeevi in the lead. She also has a Malayalam film which will be directed by Dhyan Sreenivasan, where she will be sharing the screen space with Nivin Pauly. Nayanthara’s last release was the Balakrishna starrer Jai Simha, which was directed by Ks Ravi Kumar. The actor has a slew of films slated for release this year.

Composer-actor Gv Prakash Kumar is undoubtedly the busiest actor in Kollywood. With nearly half a dozen projects in his kitty, he is said to have signed one more film with director Arivazhagan, who last made the critically-acclaimed Kuttram 23. 

It is rumoured that Arivazhagan has roped in Prakash for a crime-thriller and the project is in the final stages of negotiation. A reliable source close to Prakash has confirmed that he has given his nod in principal, but he is yet to sign on the dotted line.

Even though actor Arun Vijay has been around for over a decade, he reinvented his career with Gautham Menon Yennai Arindhaal, in which he played a grey-shaded character Victor.

With his last Tamil outing Kuttram 23 striking big at the box-office while impressing the critics, he has grabbed the attention of other southern industries as well.

He made his Kannada debut last year in a negative role with a bang. If the grapevine is anything to go by, Arun is said to have landed a key role in Prabhas’s multi-lingual action thriller, Saaho.

Filmmaker Arivazhagan, whose last directorial outing Kuttram 23 was well received by audiences and critics alike, is busy setting up his next project. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, he is in talks with leading Malayalam actress Manju Warrier for his next project.

Apparently, he has been working on a woman-centric thriller and it might feature Manju in the titular role. Although the filmmaker remains tight-lipped about his cast or the genre of the film, sources close to the project have confirmed that he has commenced talks with Manju.

Kabali director Pa. Ranjith’s Kaala is shaping up very well. The film’s promising cast has caught everybody's attention. What's more interesting is the names of the characters in the film. One of the characters is called Beemji (Pa Ranjith's Twitter handle named after Ambedkar).

The latest updae is that actor Aravind Aakash, last seen in Arun Vijay’s Kuttram 23, has landed a key role in Kaala, and his character is named after Rajinikanth’s original name, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. In the film, he plays a Marathi policeman.
