This is a fantastic movie. As with most good time travel movies, you have to think outside the box. Most others you also have to ignore the loopholes, but not in this one. The ending had tears rolling down my cheek, then a few minutes later, tears again. This movie actually had multiple sad and happy endings, until the final, which is, well, you just have to watch it. The acting is great, the characters are great, and some comedy relief from his best friend. I promise you it is worth every minute of your time...
Such an Awesome south korean time travel movie,Much much better then many hollywood Love stories ,Story was in depth & soo perfectly well made ,Felt lot of emotions & heart ach during watch this movie ( in which Hollywood far behind )
The movie started off good and I was hoping some mind twisting time travel and beautiful love story. But it was a big disappointment. The love story was weak and time travel was full of plot holes.
The main character could have saved his love interest, still be friends with his best friend and still have had his daughter. This was my first korean movie disappointment.
A man got time travel capsule then he tries to save his girl friend that she had been died 30 years ago.very interesting korean movie...
South Korean cinema adds another gem to its repertoire with Will You Be There?, an adaptation of Guillaume Musso's 2006 bestselling novel of the same name. Directed by Hong Ji-young, this film beautifully blends science fiction with deep emotional themes, delivering a heartfelt story of love, fate, and second chances.
The narrative follows a skilled surgeon, Soo-hyun (Kim Yun-seok), who, while in Cambodia, saves a young girl's life during a flood. In gratitude, an old man grants him ten mysterious pills, capable of transporting him 30 years into the past. Given a chance to reunite with his lost love, Soo-hyun must navigate the delicate consequences of altering fate while confronting his younger self.
Time travel is often a complex storytelling device, but Will You Be There? Handles it with finesse. The transitions between 1985 and 2015 are seamless, aided by meticulous attention to detail-the resemblance between the younger (Byun Yo-han) and older Soo-hyun is striking, from their posture and smoking habits to their expressions and mannerisms. The cinematography enhances this fluidity, with well-executed editing making the time shifts feel natural rather than jarring.
Beyond its sci-fi premise, the film excels in exploring human emotions and relationships. The protagonist's internal conflict-choosing between personal happiness and the irreversible consequences of his actions-adds depth to the narrative. The balance of humor, melodrama, and nostalgia, a hallmark of South Korean cinema, enriches the storytelling, making it both engaging and emotionally resonant.
With its impeccable storytelling, strong performances, and thoughtful execution, Will You Be There? Is more than just a time-travel movie-it's a touching meditation on love, regret, and the choices that shape our lives.
A must-watch for fans of heartfelt dramas with a sci-fi twist.
