My Hometown

It's a little hard to make a full account of what "My Hometown" does and its possible achievement in its two minutes. Basically it's a tribute to the creation of baseball's World Series in 1903, told in a fictional manner with little segments that tells us about the phenomenon the sport was becoming with the crowd in the early days of 20th century and how team owners and sponsors thought of the idea of such creation.

I enjoyed it due to its period recreation which is quite detailed, and it brings back the same feeling as brought by films such as "The Natural" and "Eight Men Out", all dealing with the early days of baseball in an almost innocent way where you could see a closeness between the sportists and the fans and the newspapers covering them. And as soundtrack we have boss Bruce Springsteen "My Hometown" in the background which perfectly suits the project.

And with such great production values and even a story to be told (though very jumpy), I wonder why not making an extended short rather than just an advertising? It's hard to make a great impression on it because of its running time, though fans of the sport will probably enjoy it more than I did as they'll know all the characters featured here (the World Series founders or player Cy Young who helped won that year series) and they'll see more things as well. But anyway, I liked it. 6/10.
