Stealing Silver

I love watching short films. They're usually a quick form of entertainment when you haven't got the time to watch a 2 hour long movie. I was very excited to see this movie and I had very high expectations from it, which weren't met. The directing resembled the one of a horror film, something I didn't find appropriate. The acting was good but the plot was average. It's alright but not one of the best short films I've seen.

Maisie's performance is penetrating. You leave the screening feeling her emotions. I was hoping the film would have been bolder in places, but it was the choice of the filmmaker to be restrained. Nevertheless the performances are comfortably strong. I wonder how a woman director might have made different choices in this film. Still, it's worth the watch and certainly solicits strength in story.

A clash of ages, pains, memories. In good manner, interesting, seductive. But not real convince about its message. Because it seems, in the first part, more than ambiguous. The silver box, the shadows around the old man, the sensitivity of young woman. Used in nice way but, maybe, with little more effort, more clear. It is useful to discover Maisie Williams giving a beautiful performance and it is a good point her chemistry, bitter and dark , with Ronald Pickup . But something seems missing. That is all.
