Just an another ordinary story that does not contain anything special. The story is not interesting and coherent. Songs are miserable and irrelevant to the story. Acting and dialogue delivery are below expectations. Screen play and plots are weak.In my opinion, this movie is just a waste of time and money.
So here's the thing. If you enjoy movies like Welcome, No Entry, or Singh is Kinng you'll get a kick out of Mubarakan. Remember that if you decide to watch it. Anees Bazmee who directed all of these films brings a crazy tale of misunderstandings in a mad Punjabi family to life and it's a, surprisingly, funny ride.
Karan and Charan are twin brothers who grew up with a separate aunt and uncle in London and Punjab respectively and are as different as can be. It's all fun and games until it's time to get married
Karan is in love with Sweety. Sweety with Karan. Karan's mother hates Sweety. Charan is in love with Nafisa. Nafisa is Muslim. Charan's father doesn't approve. Karan is setup to marry Binkle. Charan meets her instead. Charan now loves Binkle. Binkle's family hates Charan. Karan gets engaged to Binkle. Charan gets engaged to Sweety. Nafisa is furious. And then there's Kartar Mamoo/Chachoo who is aware of the kids' dilemma and tries to help only causing further confusion. Did you think the movie would make sense? Of course it doesn't but don't worry because it's all part of the fun.
The first fifteen minutes or so of the film are clunky as characters and relationships are established. Push through because the real mazaa starts when Kartar begins scheming and the movie takes off. As mentioned before this is a comedy about misunderstandings and miscommunication. The humor is clean and never crude or offensive which keeps things family friendly. It's also of the situational variety and often bizarre but this is where Anees Bazmee excels. You'll laugh but also scratch your head wondering why people can't have a normal conversation. They can't. Get over it.
Arjun Kapoor does a good job especially as Karan. The body language and facial expressions are well executed. The horror of his last film (Half Girlfriend) is almost forgotten. Almost. Ileana D'Cruz brings a certain charm to Sweety and pairs nicely with Arjun. Athiya Shetty is completely wasted. Neha Sharma, credited as a guest appearance, has more to do and say than Athiya. The supporting players are well cast. Ratna Pathak Shah is a treat to watch, as usual. The real star, however, is Anil Kapoor. His comic timing brings the house down and he excels even when the plot stagnates. Mr. Kapoor's performance alone is worth the price of a ticket.
If you know what you're getting into Mubarakan is a wild and laugh-out-loud funny ride. Don't overthink it and you won't be bored. It's a little long and at least one song could've been chopped off but there are enough moments that will bring a smile to your face. Mubarak to the Kapoor chacha and bhatija, I was entertained.

Anees Bazmee gave us some good entertaining comedies like Welcome, No Entry, and Singh is King. Followed by shitty attempts with Welcome Back and now this.
So the movie evolves around two twin boys named Karan and Charan Singh. Charan is based in Punjab while Karan is based in London. Karan falls in love with Sweety but apparently gets an arranged marriage with Bunkle who Charan is in love this. Due to this, a huge family rift occurs and how they win their loved ones is basically what mubarak is all about including with the hep of Uncle Kartar.
Quite frankly, this movie is stupid and relentless in such a way that the jokes are on you once you purchase the ticket for this film.
The story was slowly paced and too un-rectified in a way that multiple sardars will come at your door asking for your daughter's hand in marriage
The acting is below average.
Anil Kapoor was outstanding and he did make me laugh so many times during the film.
Arjun Kapoor as Charan was hilarious and decent but playing Karan was a bit cold and too eccentric.
Athiya Shetty was a nightmare on screen. Her expressions looked like someone forgot to turn off the washer.
Illeana D Cruz was just there and couldn't do much justice on screen
The music is average. Goggle Song is decent but Hawa Haha sounds so unmelodious that the tunes looked like a droll broke into pieces.
Overall, despite Anil Kapoor's terrific acting, this movie was ridiculously wrong. Poorly written and horribly edited which makes this film a T.V Broadcast or Netflix watch.
2.5/5- Anees Bazmee should retire from filming.

This is an excellent movie. Bollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore...it's a must watch clean entertainer that you must take your whole family to watch! No matter how much of a bad day you have had you will come out smiling! This is a laughter pill, happiness medicine all families need. Every actor has done brilliant acting - don't listen to critics -go watch this movie, be happy and be thankful to the makers!
Mubarakan is the kind of a movie which you go to watch with your friends when you are in the mood to simply laugh at everything.A good bollywood slapstick comedy with no double meaning jokes after a really long time. If you are the kind of a person who is in the habit of laughing at small things, you'll have a grin on your face throughout. Anil Kapoor sort of has the 'welcome' touch in his acting which is quite enjoyable. Arjun Kapoor, Ileana, Neha have all performed their parts well. However, Ratna Pathak's PUnjabi accent is a little absurd. The movie becomes slow towards the end, the first half is more enjoyable. Go to watch the movie only if you are not looking for something serious or sensible. Sometimes, it's good to just go and have a good laugh.
