Video Brinquedo's first mockbuster film.
The film has strange parallels to Cars 3 which was released 11 years after the film's release. Both have a yellow car with the same name (with different spelling), a black car as the main antagonist, and the big race where the champion is unable to participate.

Unlike its sequels, the first Little Cars film gives the characters different names from their original Brazilian ones: Tony is called "Cruise", Kombo is called "Lugnut", and Kris is called "Coupe". The film's villain was originally called Victor but the English dub calls him "Wrangler", and interestingly this alternate name persisted in some of the later films dubbed by a different studio. The reason for them changing the original Brazilian names could've been for two potential reasons: the dubbers did not anticipate that the film would have 7 sequels, or because a different studio would dub the later films.
