The cinematography and main visual design for this short were inspired by the works of four directors. Georges Méliès, with his films Viagem à Lua (1902) and Viagem Através do Impossível (1904). Karel Zeman, with his storybook like adventures, Vynález zkázy (1958) and O Barão Fanfarrão (1962). Blake Edwards, with his wacky period-piece comedy, A Corrida do Século (1965). And Hayao Miyazaki, with his elegant worlds, rich stories, and endearing characters from such animated features as, Lupin III: O Castelo de Cagliostro (1979), O Castelo no Céu (1986), and O Castelo Animado (2004). There are many other notable inspirations that helped finalize the look, but perhaps most important among them, beyond the films above, were the video-games, Doragonzu kuraun (2013) and Dark Chronicle (2002).
