There's no getting away from it, this film is completely mad. But there's fun to be had if you enjoy some superbly choreographed action. It is it's only saving grace unfortunately. There's a variety of young and deadly female fighters spinning around in black pvc offering stern looks and cheesy dialogue. I've also never heard such a dramatic score amidst so much crazy action, which only compounds itself towards the end, if you make it that far! This film will make you cringe and smile in equal measure if the lust for crazy action keeps you on board. The Jackie styled energy still emanates throughout the film, but it's not an easy ride to stay engaged with.
There was no doubt about me sitting down to watch "Bleeding Steel" or not, because it is a Jackie Chan movie and I do like his movies quite a lot.
I must admit that I am a little bit puzzled about the fairly low rating the movie has managed to receive on IMDb. Sure, it certainly wasn't among the best of Jackie Chan movies, not by a long shot, but it was still a rather fast-paced action-filled adventure that we all know and love from Jackie Chan.
The movie had a rather simple storyline and it didn't really offer any plot twists along the way. And you knew the movie's outcome from early on in the movie, but it was still an enjoyable action ride to sit along on.
The stunts are as always top notch from the king of stunts himself, Jackie Chan.
As for the acting in the movie, well it was actually also fairly good for a type of this type and genre.
There was a good combination of action and light comedy throughout the movie, as it is usually always the case with Jackie Chan movies. So you know what you are in for here when you watch it.
It was amazing to see Jackie duke it out on top of the Opera building in Sidney, and that is something I never thought I would have seen.
This is definitely a movie well-worth a place in the Jackie Chan collection. And if you haven't already seen it, and if you are a fan of Jackie Chan, then I strongly recommend that you find the time to do so.

Over the top critic's need to settle down with the 1/10 rating.
Its not that bad, but not a box office hit either.
Jackie just keeps the FUN in movies & the dudes in his 60's.
This movie being down under has the same feel as one of his 1st hollywood flicks in the 90' which was in australia. I think it was called "first strike".
What a lousy screenplay, man. If you watch carefully from the very beginning, Jackie Chan is actually the Executive Producer, his son is another producer, one of the female actors is also one of the screenplay writers. The scenario is ridiculous, about a invention of the artificial heart that can make half dead people resurrect from the dead. Lot of gun fights, explosions, demonic-like villains and globe trekkers. Since Jacki Chan has an Australian Passport and his wife a permanent resident there, he just like to use Australia as one the movie's shooting location other than Hong Kong.
This is a very childish and shallow action movie for the majority of video gaming generation, guys still live with their parents, eating instant ra-mien soaking in boiled hot water while still playing the video games. But if you really like Jackie Chan's movie, watch "The Foreigner" instead.

Let me start by stating I'm a life long Jackie Chan fan and have watched all of his films even bit part and cameo appearances over the course of 30 years and as a rule would usually not have a bad word said about him or his films. However...
Like someone else had put in a review I actually came here half way through the film to check how this was being received as I was honestly struggling to get through the film.
***Mild spoiler*** The film starts with a standard plot a cop(special agent), dying daughter, opening exaggerated shoot out scene with some power ranger style bad guy which is where it introduces you to the Sci-Fi element of the film if you want to call it that. That was the first 15 mins and you'll see JC again for a brief fight scene about 10 minutes later and not again until an HOUR into the movie! This film has an awful plot and terrible dialogue so bad that it would make your budget look Oscar worthy in comparison. Even the humour which doesn't actually come from our hero is like kids show level. The twists are so obvious it's not worth calling them twists.
Now as I mentioned I'm a huge JC fan, I love the man and his movies but I can admit he has some weak films with weak plots and sub-par acting however JC can generally carry those film due to his humour, action and general likeability. another questionable choice is the sound design, I get dubbing the Mandarin speaking actors but some of the English actors were even dubbed. Simply every aspect of the film feels so cheap. Jackie has spent decades displaying the right way to film action especially fight scenes and Leo Zhang decided to forego that process and go for generic shaky/slow-mo shots. I won't even go in to the CGI just know that they even CGI'd in a photograph and that didn't even look realistic.
I came here at the middle of the film frustrated at how bad the film was and i'm now at the end of the film just disappointed JC put his name to this. If you love Jackie like most of us do then do yourself a favour and skip this, once a classic of his instead.

Leeson: Hey, man. Thank for openly discussing a price. Although it's a matter of trust. Sorry, I have a dinner date with Jackie Chan. Over.
Buyer: Fuck!
