this movie have a very simple story but it made it into a very good visual lesson about life , self love and life goals. it's a very good an hour and half watch with funny and heart felt moments the main character is so charismatic and relate-able (also very pretty) .it's focused on main plot lines only which is good sense the main character development is done gradually and every well . it's not a romance by any means, but highly recommended

I am normally picky about what I watch, because there's just so much out there, I can barely keep up with my obvious interests... so generally a foreign film has to really stand out for me to devote time to watch it. I am very glad I watched this one.

Immediately upon starting, I was hooked, because I felt for the lead and what she was going through; but when the movie started with the 17yr old parts, I was worried that it was going to turn into more of a movie geared towards teenagers. But it actually isn't.

Just to be clear, she doesn't actually go back in time, nor does she physically reverse in age, etc. Rather, it's like her 28yr old self gets swapped with her 17yr old self. Most films, when this happens, it's a one time trip, and at the end they go back to wherever they started at. In this film, this is not the case as it swings between the two frequently.

This film became more serious minded as we watch the struggle she deals with, with the mess that's left behind from each trip. However by the end its really touching and a poignant message about embracing who you are; but also about letting go. It actually makes you think about your own life... what would your 17yr old self say to you now?

I have to say, it's an amazing movie, and well worth a watch. I highly recommend!

Terrible infantile acting.

Well, granted, I hadn't even heard about the 2015 movie "Suddenly Seventeen" (aka "28 Suì Wèi Chéngnián") from writer and directors Mo Zhang before now in 2020, when I was given the chance to sit down and watch the movie.

Needless to say that, of course I sat down to watch it, with it being a Chinese movie and all. After all, I have a big interest in Asian ciname.

Well, I managed to endure 42 minutes of pure torture that is known as "Suddenly Seventeen". Wow, talk about a pointless storyline, and one that is driven by equally pointless characters. I had absolutely no interest in anything that transpired on the screen; especially so as everything was so overly generic, predictable and unimaginative.

I am sure that the cast were adequate, but they were severely hindered by a lousy script and poorly written characters.

There are far better movies out there that deal with the same topic and storyline - that being someone traveling back to their youth, but being in their "older" body. And truth be told, "Suddenly Seventeen" is by no account or means worth the time, effort or money.

My rating of "Suddenly Seventeen" is a meager two out of ten stars, and that is solely because of the adequate production value and editing that was present in the movie. This was a massive swing and a miss from writer and director Mo Zhang in terms of entertaining or enthralling me.
