A Housekeeper's Revenge

Budget movie that was overall poor quality, though somewhat entertaining. Don't trust the previous 5* reviews.

If the loose ends in the story of A Housekeeper's Revenge were as carefully plotted as Fay Masterson's plot against Kathryn Newton this might have rated higher. Honestly I couldn't see what Masterson's problem was.

Newton's dad has married himself a young trophy wife and he's honeymooning with her. Leaving the daughter in the care of housekeeper Masterson, Masterson is nursing a big time grudge against Newton. She blames Newton for the suicide of her son who was a picked on nerd in school. In fact she was one of the few who treated him decently.

It's here where the story is vague, too vague for my taste. That Masterson is deranged no doubt, but just if and how much culpability Newton has is not clear at all.

Some good performances topped Masterson, Newton, and Kenton Duty as her ex-boyfriend are sadly wasted in a mediocre film.

When it started I thought it was just another Teenybopper movie, but it slowly pulls you in. Especially when the new housekeeper comes on the scene. She becomes the main Star character. Pretty good flick.

The wacko this week is a woman who poses as housekeeper. As we learn through flashbacks Her boy was a mentally unstable geek who is befriended by a pretty popular girl. He dies and the woman gets a job as housekeeper to the girls family. She starts to post scandalous pictures of her and otherwise sabotaging her life. The girl unfairly blames a boy she broke up from.

Kathryn Newton is sweet as the victim. Kenton Duty plays her Friend who helps her.

I liked this complicated little thriller. It's quite interesting to see the delusions of the geeky boy.
