The songs and the scenery in the entire movie is good.
But it is very noisy, unnecessary disturbing noises will irritate you, may be some may get head ache too.
The jungle villain type character with uniform and gun and hairs like birds nest is actually funny, from no angle he looks like a villain.
In one fight sequence the hero is carrying his younger brother and fighting, i don't know why because he could have left him in a safe place fought the villains instead. The action director used more than required brains i guess.
Otherwise it is a one time watch movie only.

This was a movie that generated a lot of hype before release and I was all geared up to criticize the movie but after watching I felt zipped shut. The movie gets into our hearts from the very start. The movie doesn't stand just for its action sequences, it is more of a family entertainer. The story goes in such a pace that you start to admire Murugan and stop questioning his one man army fights. As for the action sequences, the last time we witnessed this type of weapon fights was in Pazhassi Raja and Puli murugan nailed it. Good camera work, graphics, screenplay, direction, acting hell everything went good to keep you entertained till the very end. Kamalinee did her part and it doesn't even feel like she was the new face anymore. The movie has a social impact too, Murugan is a simple man with simple ideals about life. Like the innocent villagers in our country Murugan too is used for the modern man's greed. Another issue is the killing of tigers as it reminds us of all the idiotic laws against killing dogs. What I found interesting about the movie is it does not settle with the current atmosphere and keeps moving. Simplicity in the heart and fierceness in a fight is what Murugan is about. NOT A MOVIE YOU WATCH WHEN YOU HAVE TIME,THIS IS A MOVIE THAT YOU MAKE TIME FOR.

One of the most anticipated Malayalam films of the year, this action adventure cannot be termed a disappointment, but as a welcome affair in the industry starving of technological development.
Murugan (Mohanlal) is an illiterate hunter who lives with his wife and daughter and is revered by the tribal villagers for he is the only person in the whole forest who can fight and subdue man-eating tigers mistaken to be leopards. After the death of his mother and hunter father, Murugan is left to fend for himself alone in the wild with his newborn brother. Chip off the old block, he turns into a survivalist and quickly learns the workings of the jungle, which conveniently helps him in his trademark endeavors. Things begin to go south when Murugan's now grown-up brother, Manikkuttan (Vinu Mohan), pursuing MBA in the city, sends two of his friends to the forest seeking help from Murugan. Since his brother and his professional success is everything for Murugan, he agrees to help, and then starts the calamitous phase in the lives of everyone involved, including that of Daddy Girija (Jagapathi Babu), an unscrupulous "merchant".
Before even the film starts, the starting credits are enough to understand why the film was made. Not only to entertain its massive audience, but to also cash in on the lead actor's wild and baffling popularity. The massive number of adjectives used to introduce the actor in the credits makes a real cinema enthusiast slightly uncomfortable for actors are only vehicles used by filmmakers to tell their story. Never mind!
The film is largely made out of highly energetic stunt sequences that are choreographed decently with good photography. Only Mohanlal can pull off what Murugan does as a character, often supplementing his idiosyncrasy with that flamboyant air and glamorous countenances of his. His chops as a hunter really is what makes the film half entertaining, along with the story that is not novel but at least bearable. Having said that, one should not expect novelty from Mr Vysakh; his filmography on Wikipedia or his last film is enough to understand the types of films he makes, but let us not ignore the first statement of third paragraph of this review. So, yes the stunts written by Udayakrishna look good because of CGI, but lack logic, and gravity for that matter. One can predict what is going to happen in the next five or fifteen or forty-five minutes and that is the sole reason why this adventure drama cannot be described with superlative adjectives. A well-constructed familiar story executed with ample use of computer graphics and loud sequences is what the film essentially is. Although, it does swerve into the South Indian masala film territory, which may not appeal to the informed audience. I know it's a niche group, but this review is intended for them.
Kamalinee Mukherjee, the lead lady, is ill-cast. With only a single expression in her kitty, she fails miserably to impress. Sequences involving her go as much to annoy the audience, and even though her character's actions may be justified, Mukherjee's portrayal bites the dust. Lal overacts throughout the film and so does Sooraj Venjaramoodu, in the most sexist character of the year, forcing film critic Anna MM Vetticad to boil in fury. Other prominent cast like Bala, Mohan, Kishore, Siddique, and Makarand Deshpande all do a decent job.
The comedy is appreciated, but it definitely goes overboard, even with Mohanlal who tries to reinvent his classic slapstick, but hits a door. The comic timing is not great either, mixing it with drama and sometimes spoiling the whole broth. Nonetheless, Venjaramoodu is the only one who adds the chuckles while rest of the cast stay in character and follow the helmer's orders fluently.
Overall, if one has the ability to ignore the seemingly improbable situations occurring in the story-line and welcome the action sequences with open arms and whistles, then Pulimurugan will be a sure-shot treat. The final 15 minutes are real gold for someone who is a Mohanlal fan and an action film fanatic. Only, if you are into animal rights and a bit fastidious, things might get cranky here as the justification about the film's title not matching the type of animal one sees on-screen does not weigh much, and that for me, is enough to omit a single star from this review. Films have to be original and if Mr Vysakh ever renames the film to "Kaduvamurugan", I'd make this a 7- star review. But, don't worry, we have "Swarna Kaduva", don't we?
The makers could have easily tightened the film into about 120 minutes and still make it look good. But, then, one wonders, how would they play that irritating title song when Pulimurugan crescendoes in action 897 times!
BOTTOM LINE: Vysakh's Kaduvamurugan... err.. "Pulimurugan" is a well-made potboiler that will be adulated by the fanatics, and can be passed off as a one-time affair by those with brains and the faculty to understand good cinema. Watch on DVD or go for that weekday show where the single ticket price is less than 100. (Not sure if that's possible right now in Kerala.)

Without doubt,Pulimurugan was the most anticipated Malayalam movie this year that took two years in production taking its budget to a whooping 25 Crore making it the most expensive Mollywood film as per the makers. To my surprise,I was welcomed by the huge full-sheet paper ad this morning, first of its kind as far as Mollywood is concerned.Height of faith in one's creation??Ahh! Maybe.
The movie started of with some stellar frames of the lush green forests, presenting the childhood back-story of Lalettan which was portrayed brilliantly by one debutant child artist,a promising prodigy to lookout for in future.Vysakh proved his mettle once again by presenting a normal formulaic storyline by Udayakrishna that's lifted up a level by the convincing narration and good screen presence of Mohanlal .
The first half was really impressive with never-before seen breathtaking action sequences choreographed by Peter Hein,well-presented VFX,lovable performance by Mohanlal and hilarious counters shared between Mohanlal and Lal.The second half was little weak in comparison with the first, but made up to a large extent by the brilliantly presented climax fight sequence.
Peter Hein deserves a special mention for those spine-tingling action sequences which for itself makes up for a delightful watch from the big screens. The VFX team did their part notably well, adding to the brilliance of the action choreography. The action sequences were top-notch and undoubtedly the best to comeout from mollywood till date. The initial and climax fights were the best part of the presentation and received huge applause from the crowd.
On the negative side, the storyline was pretty predictable particularly to the second half that follows the normal pattern of masala entertainers that we have seen many a times before. The sub-plot involving Namitha, continuous praise of the protagonist by people around and a few double intenders could have been avoided to gain more pace and appeal among the family audience.
The backgroundscore by Gopi Sunder was thrilling and boosted the appeal of the title character.Songs were average with the pick being the lullaby sung by Vani Jayaram.Shaji Kumar did a brilliant job behind the camera, elevating the impact of few trivial seqeunces on the silverscreen.Editing by John Kutty was fine.
Coming to the performances Mohanlal was the backbone of the storyline and played the role of Murugan convincingly winning the hearts particularly in the emotional and action sequences.Another pic among the cast was the child artist who played the childhood part of Murugan brilliantly.Lal excelled with his amazing comic-timing.SurajVenjaramood,Vinu Mohan etc were good.Kamalini Mukherjee was okayish.Namitha didn't have much to perform than being the usual eye-candy as in her previous films.Jagapathy Babu was apt for portraying the role of the antagonist and portrayed his character effectively.
Overall,Pulimurugan is a wholesome entertainer with some stunning stunts as the major highlight.

Pulimurugan is a superb commercial entertainer. This movie portrayed another face of Mohanlal's acting skills from start to the end, the viewers are taken to various emotions of laughter, anger, rush of blood etc.Every scene in the movie makes an impact with the viewers. It was good to see Mohanlal in an all new avatar. Mohanlal is the main backbone of the movie Pulimurugan. Another bang of The Complete Actor "Mohanlal".I think 2016 year is the year for the Complete actor 'Mohanlal' because his previous films (Oppam, Manamantha and Janatha Garage) released in 2016 and turned as blockbuster.
Director Vyshakh done a fantastic job. In Pulimurugan, the director just ripped off an image of Superstar Mohanlal and recreated it in a different man. The story is wafer thin, but the dialogues are Fantastic. Supporting characters like Kamalini Mukherjee, Vinu Mohan, Suraj and other all characters done good job except Namitha. I think the movie not need Namitha's character. I forgot to tell Lal's character and the boy (done's Mohanlals childhood character) They were simply awesome.
Another plus point is CGI and VFX. It was awesome. The tigers sequences are amazing. I think in some sequences CGI is not much good as expected but overall the work was fantastic. Peter Hein action choreography simply amazing he done a great job and he gives his best action sequences for Malayalam film industry.
Overall it's a must watch movie for all! Go and watch the movie in Theatre because it's a mass entertainer for all.

"story not an extraordinary one but entertaining and specially dedicated to all laletan fans"
Positives- 1.)Direction- Vysakh directed amazingly with lots of fan moments added making it an splendid watch.
2.) Story- Not an extraordinary one but it can entertain you.
3.)Mohanlal- Outstanding performance from mohanlal. Each and every scenes of his acting were brilliant and his action sequences need lots of applauds (It has already got from audience).
4.)Aijaz (childhood character of mohanlal), Lal,Vinu Mohan,Bala and Jagapathi Babu.
5.) Bg score and music- Gopi sundar once again proved and title song was superb. Without title song this movie would have got affected badly and its an asset to this film. Keep it up Gopi Sundar!! 6.)Action sequences- One of the best action choreography and i have never seen like this type of actions in Indian movies. Peter Hein has choreographed properly without any flaws and all of them were jaw dropping and thrilling.
7.) Cinematography and editing- Cinematography was visual treat and editing works were good.
Negative- 1.)Suraj comedies- Was bit outdated and boring. Plus all his jokes were lame. Cant blame him completely because the script failed in those portions and not him.
2.)Screenplay- Not Worst but could have been better because i felt out of all screenplay didn't offer nothing new and bored non mohanlal fans at certain areas with clichés.
Is it a Must Watch Film? Yes, It is a must watch film and you will never see this type of films in malayalam because its very rare and with budget of 25cr they have utilised it properly. No Indian films till now could make such an excellent product with this type of budget. Usually if you check other lang movies you can see it exceeds 40 cr + to make pulimurgan type of films and that too it fails to reach the expectations. So special applauds to director for that.
Overall- Go for this flick and surely it will be first malayalam movie to reach 100cr worldwide. If you check in terms of story it may not be that great but overall its a well packaged one and its surely a complete treat to mohanlal fans!! Don't wait for its DVD because you will get its feel only in theatre. And its a visual treat to everyone.

One of the worst hyped-up Malayalam movies I've ever seen. The story line is incredible, the script is way below average and the performance is better left undefined. It's a case of a talented actor going over the hill and that the movie has already been such a super hit says how gullible we are as consumers and how our cinematic taste has reached a nadir. Not going into technical superiority since this is what money can buy these days. The movie is poor in terms of creative thought, cohesive screenplay and most unfortunately the incapability to separate a character from a marquee actor. The director had come up with some reasonably good movies but seems to have cowered before the myth that cinema revolves round a salable hero.

Synopsis – Pulimurugan revolves around lead character called Murugan who himself becomes a wild hunter due to some tragedies in the past and his conflicts with real world man & wild animals within.
Director Vyshakh is well known for his colorful visuals as well as delivering some mass sequences which is quite convincing to Malayalee audience. But when it comes to Pulimurugan, he simply delivered his masterpiece as a film maker. The story-line strongly requires such a canvas and above all to raise the perfection level there is none other than Mohanlal. The movie is such a cult-classic adventurous saga which filled with lots of breathtaking action moments throughout. This one is sure shot Winner! Though the movie is too lagging at 2 hours 45 minutes, trust me this one will surely keep you engaged till the end. That's just a dinner to the critics :P. The script by Udayakrishna of Udayakrishna – Sibi K Thomas combo as expected he written a decent one which had enough of emotional as well as engaging moments. Vyshak's effort of making an ordinary script to extraordinary flick is much appreciated. Through Pulimurugan undoubtedly Vyshak just raised the mercury bar of bench- marking an action film in Malayalam Film Industry. The best part of this action adventure is leopard hunting and it's brilliantly done. It's clearly visible that they have researched a lot to conclude how a Man vs Animal sequence would convince the audience and moreover how they can shoot these visuals. And the result is outstanding – the maker's effort paid off completely.
Exceptional talent in doing action scenes at this age of 56 without dupe, delivering a heavy emotional scene with ease, innocence portrayal, extreme shyness and someone who is capable of dragging you to his own deceptive world were in you feel astonished by seeing his performance on screen, then the actor should be one and only Lalettan. He simply proved why he is called as The Complete Actor through Pulimurugan. Kamalini Mugharji did justice to her lead role as a lovable & nagging housewife. Lal could deliver some match-able performance alongside Lalettan. Suraj was there as a comic relief and actress Namitha's presence brought that regular spiciness to comic sequences. Jagpathi babu marked his official debut in Malayalam film industry by playing a typical villain who provokes the innocent wild hunter. All the known and unknown actors including Sudheer Karamana and Kishore did well to deliver their best on screen.
Cinematography was innovative in many places and could deliver some stunning visuals. Peter Hein's action choreography gifted never seen before kinda experience especially in any Malayalam films. Big thanks to his exceptional effort. Gopi Sunder's music is another highlight which just enhanced the movie experience to yet another level. "Kaadaniyum" sung by Yesudas & K S Chithra was both ear soothing and soulful. Editing dept also deserves applauds still lacking some perfection in joining scene by scene because the movie handles quite a lot of flashbacks to make it more convincing to the audience.
Bottom Line – Pulimurugan is an extraordinary film flavored with exceptional making, soulful songs, breathtaking adventurous action sequences as well as Lalettan's tremendous performance. Let's rush to theaters to experience the extravaganza :)

When you talk about a movie like 'Pulimurugan' you don't have privilege to criticize much, because lots of efforts put on by the cast and the technical team is evident in shots particularly forest scenes. The script i earlier half is gripping and takes the movie experience to extraordinary levels. In later half the cliché scenes comes up with let down though the action scenes still comes to fascinate you and makes you forget those repetitions. The animations of tiger though are weaker since Malayalam movies can't afford the large expenses on these technicalities, it does not affect our entertainment quota. Actors in movie are of good capabilities but this is almost a one man show, yes Mohan Lal shadows all performances. He has performed all the action and drama scenes with perfection. Other actors are also good in their roles. The character of Bala is another well crafted character but by the end it flatters. Background score is the backbone of action sequences without which it could have been not much effective. The script includes all the ingredients in it be it drama, thrill or comic scenes, so it can be clearly said the script stands as the winner here. But no script is complete unless it is executed with perfection by its director and actors. Director Vyshaag had previously shown good skills in captivating colors of Punjab in 'Mallu Singh' and his venture 'Seniors' was too color full and entertainer; he has carried all those skills in to 'Pulimurugan' and justified with script and calibers of all the actors and provided us an excellent action packed movie. Apart from these the person who has to be appreciated most is Peter Hein for choreographing great action sequences and depicting it to perfection when comes to fight sequence including tiger. The animators have given appropriate body language to the tiger within their limits.Anyway this is a must watch movie which entertains and thrills you. The rating could be 7 but for action and scenic filming 8 will only justify.

If you consider the script of Pulimurugan, it's nothing like a Malayalam movie. It's a mass action flick that we used to see in Telugu industry or Tamil industry.
But what works for Pulimurugan is Mohanlal's charm, Peter Hein's action choreography, Gopi Sundar's BGM, and Vyshakh's making. Also the VFX artists did a decent job considering the budget.
If you're planning to watch it anywhere other than theaters, I've got bad news for you. It's a movie that would only work if you watch it in theaters.

It was somewhat going OK, then flopped towards the end. The action is too fake regarding physics, I guess the gravity doesn't affect when you shoot with these cameras. Overuse of strings and rope people swinging around like crouching Tiger hidden Dragon, I saw one person flying attacking lal.
Commmon guys! I was enjoying the tiger story and the village settings, it should've just continued that way.

My expectations were low for this movie after watching the first trailer of this film, with mohanlal imitating tiger expressions. Frankly,I thought he was going to deliver another "Casanova".But yesterday I watched this movie and was fully stunned. Visuals are amazing and peter hein's Acton sequences are pure magic. The story is also quite alright although it follows the same old malayalam drama style, with hero on the run, villain seeking vengeance etc. But the part that makes this movie quite unique is its grand scale production value with so many fight sequences especially with the CGI "puli". Graphics is also good ,although there were a few glitches.bgm from gopi sundar was awesome.lalettan has put so much effort into the movie and he is really a treat to watch. The only part I didn't like was kamilini mukerjee as she was always yelling and most of the time was expressionless. Fight scenes also had few glitches but overall it was excellent. Pure treat for lallettan fans

What I would a say is a fantastic movie which worth the money which we pay. Jungle life has much originality. Creation and animation of tiger is amazing. I didn't see any movie like this to show tiger action other than in English. Appreciate Mohanlal for his wonderful acting and his down to earth nature to do anything. We respect you Sir for giving us this film as a Gift. There are lot of fun moments by Lal and Swaraj. Fight direction is super. Each and everyone involved in the fight have done their roles better. One of the best thing I have noted is the boy who fight with tiger. He has done his role fantastic. Overall this film is a success.

Givinng due credit to the positive aspects - The movie as such solely relies on Mohanlal's performance, which is awesome. But team work isn't balanced, though. Siddique's acting, camera work & Peter Hein's stunts were good too. Music is a let down, much suited for a low-bud film, doesn't suit Gopi Sundar's orchestration skills. Sudhir Karamana has been overacting in a few recent movies, which is in stark contrast with that of his father's fantastic controlled acting. Karamana Janardhanan Nair was one of Malayalam's finest. CGI is way better than that in any other south Indian movies released so far, although there are a few flaws which only trained eyes might spot. I wouldn't have noticed any of those, if I hadn't been working in Quality control in Animation Looks like the idea was to air the movie nationally but Jagapathy Babu, the ace Telugu villain's character & script couldn't deliver. Comparisons with Devasuram & Kireedam are hardly justified as both Napoleon & Mohan Raj carried off their equally important roles with flair & left a lasting strong impact. The pack of villains apparently have hurriedly-scripted roles. This is at a time when performance by a total newcomer Ashwin Kumar in Jacobinte swargarajyam was amazingly powerful & realistic. Otherwise the fact that excellent footages of Mohanlal fighting a snake and other scenes shown in teasers - yet removed scenes for optimizing the length of the movie is disappointing. Perhaps shortening stale comedy footage of Namita would have been prudent. Kamalini Mukherjee's expressions are hardly worth commenting- as is apt for any other imported actress, usual in Malayalam. Her casting again, must have had something to do with the intended national market of the movie. Also the stunt sequence while Mohanlal carries his fully grown-up brother while fighting is as ridiculous as watching some archaic Hindi movie. The Hype about this movie is hardly worth believing - Overall Grossly Disappointing

You know how in the teaser of Thoppil Joppan Mamta Mohandas describes Mammootty as Marana mass. If Joppan is Marana mass Pulimurugan is kola mass. It is probably the best action movie you have ever seen. When i went to see this movie i excepted a few outstanding actions scenes and nothing else, but Pulimurugan is something much much greater. It brings about every emotion a movie could bring. I didn't even expect one comedy in the whole movie but it has plenty of comedies which make you laugh out loud. The one reason that Suraj Venjaramoodu is in the movie is to make comedies there is no other reason for his character. The script is also pretty strong even though it is mainly made for the action sequences. This movie definitely has the best action sequences Malayalam cinema has ever seen. It has just THE best action sequences Malayalam cinema and the only reason such a feat is achievable is because of Lalettan. There is no way you could describe Lalettan's performance in this movie. He is just unbelievable good. Through Pulimurugan Lalettan proves again that as long as he is alive no matter how many Nivin paulys and Dulquer salmaans come and go he is always the king of box office. If you are a Lalettan fan especially a die-hard one like me this is the biggest treat you will ever have. It has thousands of mass scenes and enough and more Meesha Piris and so much more. You have to watch this movie in the theaters to get real effect. This is definitely one of the movies that every Malayalee could hold close to their heart forever. It is not an option it is must no questions asked.

If you're a Mohanlal fan, you'll like it. Very much. For others it's just a mass movie with so many cliches. I gave four for the visual effects, eye catching art, locations and Mohanlal, as always was excellent. Still I don't recommend this movie to anybody other than Mohanlal fans.
