The movie made a weird choice to let the main character speak to the camera. This was a weird choices because it was not from te start like that. It was because of that hard for me to live with the character
This film tells the story of a young woman who is diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer at the age of seventeen. She keeps on fighting with the greatest support from her friends and family.
"Kiss and Cry" is a really beautiful film. The characters are all beautiful within and without. Carly's brave spirit is inspirational. The fact that her family, classmates and friends support her throughout the battle is very touching. The haircut campaign is tear jerking.
There are a lot of scenes that makes people smile as well. It is great that they can make a comedy out of changing a tracheostomy tube. The big dinner at the end makes me happy too.
It is a beautiful film. The fact that Carly's real life friends plays her shows how courageous and loving Carly's friends are. It was a short life, but a life well lived and loved.

The story on its own was good, but I couldn't enjoy the movie since the very start because of the comments the main personage was giving towards the camera during the complete movie. Everytime I thought 'now the movie got me and I am about to start enjoy', the girl turns towards the camera and starts giving narrations. Very annoying and giving no space for own imagination...
Great acting especially Sarah Fisher playing her friend made it even better. I'm sure she actually felt the experience herself. This film is a tear jerker.
Just watched "His Fatal Fixation" (I think it was called, not sure, she is so good in that too) and heard about this movie.
I came here after reading a bit about the circumstances of the life of a amazing young woman and her world.
Yes, the movie was inspirational and full of hope, which is too bad, when it should of been like the actual events, life enforcing and a magnificent life lived.
The movie (script) was cheesey and awkward at times, but at times hit (probably accidentally, like the hospital scene) so I'll say poignant and real here and there. Real life can be that way too.
In defense of this presentation it was probably a rushed production fettered to a so so script (took itself too seriously _all the time,_ jittery timeline/ events, could of implemented the romance dialog so much better / entertaining forgoing the so worn out cliches etcetera).
The guy (love interest) had difficult (poorly written) lines to deal with and his part should of been more of a consistent rock always (like the dad was written) there instead of the silly drama they wrote in there that was a time waster in such an important story.
Overall I can see how this romance as scripted was diverging for some commenting here.
But the actor actually did well and with a better script could of shined.
Actually the cast was very competent but somewhat failed by a script that hit all the worn cliches.
Actress was tremendous and I could feel her. Productions and producers should pick up on this actress before the chance is lost.
I think Carley's story, from various articles and narritives from those that knew her, was more a fighter, doer and life liver rather than the hope dripping requiem sense of this movie. We all die, have a set time limit, and I get the feeling Carley lived her allotted timeline ferociously.
Not the casts fault (they were excellent) or the overall production, as I've harped to death, the script (in spite of a great subject and probably lots of factual and emotional input) let them and us down.
I mean this as this movie was good, but a thing that could of been magnificently rendered as the true events.
