For most of my life, I had been a Disney Channel die-hard. This lasted up until my mid-teens, when the network's downward spiral became too much to bare. The series I connected with the most growing up was Lizzie McGuire, so when it was announced that Disney Channel picked up a new series from Lizzie's creator Terri Minsky, I was ecstatic and full of new-found hope. To top it off, the premise sounded cute and refreshingly normal in comparison to most of DC's current content.
Disney Channel desperately needed SOMETHING to reestablish its legitimacy in tween programming; Girl Meets World and Best Friends Whenever showed promise, but never delivered on it; Stuck in the Middle is a huge step in the right direction, but still a bit too squeaky clean. Finally, we have Andi Mack. Something about it just feels real, whether it be the use of actually locations or the lack of a laugh track (please continue with these trends, Disney!). The young actress in the title role is adorable and shows real talent from the start.
That's not all, folks. There's a twist that is absolutely shocking for Disney Channel, and there's even a period joke in the first episode! That's right, Disney Channel has guts again.

The 1st season of this show was smart, well paced, and cute; the 2nd season has been cute, but a whole mess in the plotline department.
The main relationship storyline - Jonah & Andi has been painfully dragged out for a whole 2 seasons. The 2 characters constantly backtrack on previous points in the storyline for no reason other than to stir up an 'A' plot worth of drama.
Buffy's plot has taken 3 very sharp turns this season, none of which resulted in any character development...
For Jonah's anxiety storyline, Bowie acts as his therapist while projecting his own problems onto Jonah. While that may be interesting to see, there is NO WAY that the children watching this can understand what projection looks like - making this storyline virtually useless to the target demographic.
Poor Cyrus has been neglected for an entire season, only to show up once every blue moon to remind the audience that he's gay. All he's been doing is supporting Andi and Jonah's relationship from a distance, without ever actually being involved in the storyline.
The only consistent plotlines are those of Bex, Celia, and TJ - despite him only being a recurring character.

I love it! (though it can get a it cringe at times) The cast is super talented, and it's plot is actually engaging and interesting. Best of all is there's no laugh track! The character act and dress like middle school students and are super easy to relate to rather than over the top. Not to mention the show manages to tackle more mature situations without alienating its target demographic, meaning all ages cam watch!
This a great show that has much more quality than other Disney channel TV shows. I am starting to watch each week to see what new twist or surprise there is. It is full of positive messages and role models. I divide the story into 2 parts, Andi's family life, and Andy's friend life. The family side of the story is 10/10, but the school side is 4/10 for me. Andy's friends are good friends, but I kind of don't really like them that much. I don't like Andy's crush on Jonah, cause I don't see what is so special about Jonah. He is a nice and happy boy, but I don't see what makes him so amazing that Andi likes him so much. The side plot of Cyrus trying to impress Jonah is dumb. I don't care so much when they are showing that. Also there are a lot of cringey and weird moments when the show tries to be cool and funny. Not saying it isn't funny at all, cause it is. Andi's party is an example. Besides all that, I think this is a great show should become more popular.
I don't have much to say considering I finished this series more than a year ago when I was younger but it was really good. All the characters had development and for once the plot wasn't predictable or boring. It was one of the best Disney channel shows. I definitely recommend. Not to mention the good costumes, talent and diversity this show has.
