Seemed a little off, but I thought Theo was great. His wittiness and ability to construct his own language is unique and masterful. Ready for his next special.
Theo rambles a bit and seems to have zero filter when it comes to his comedy. It's called No Offense for a reason, ironically. The best comedy in my opinion is unfiltered, blatantly honest comedy. The way Theo talks, whether it's the southern accent or just his mannerisms but likely a combination of these, adds to his unique character and humor. He's quickly become a new favorite comedian. Watching this can be especially awkward because of the generally dull crowd. Or maybe his humor is just for the few and far between.
People actually laughed at this? I am not familiar with Theo Von, but heard he was funny, so I wanted to give him a chance. This special missed the mark entirely. I didn't laugh and maybe smiled a few times at the most. He tried too hard and it showed all throughout this special. I'm sure he's a funny guy, so I'm hoping to find more of his content. Maybe this was just an unfunny special and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's refined his humor since this special and worked on his delivery. Calling his humor unique is just a cop out way of saying that he's not funny. 2/10 would not recommend.
His jokes and stories are way more creative than most comedian's.
I recently started watching his podcast and wondered what kind of stand-ups such a sensitive and seemingly serious person does, so I saw this.
It was funny and unique, his humor - def worth watching.
Theo, if you ever see this, I have some tips that will help: 1. Pick your audience, this was a bad audience, invite friends who can laugh 2. Be more confident, you deserve it and it will help the joke delivery a lot 3. If a joke doesn't land, go in on the audience or move on, but don't let awkward silence happen
This was old so you probably know these things by now, looking forward to more specials.

I'm a big fan of Theo Von's appearances on podcasts and his more natural comedy, but his standup can leave a lot to be desired. Following the trend of offensive comedy that has been succesful for a lot of other standups, Theo lacks the finesse to actually pull it off.
His lack of filter makes him one of the funniest guys to watch ramble, but when it's mixed in with his pre-written show plan, it can feel very disjointed. While there are a couple of funny moments, some of it is really cringey, and that's not because I have an issue with offensive comedy. While those like Anthony Jeselnik have the ability to make you laugh about some of the most controversial topics, Theo seems to take the same premise, and the same punchlines, but misses any of the substance in between.
Whether it was Netflix's audio editing I don't know, but the crowd looks particularly uninterested for the first half of the performance, notably showing little reaction to the punchlines and adding to that overwhelming feel of cringe.
Great comedian to keep an eye on, but standup's not his specialty.
